New, from me: Everything seems awful, but Co. Kerry, Ireland is great. A photo essay on what to do if you visit (especially for Killarney and Dingle). Replies are open, so please add your own suggestions. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/welcome-to...

One of the (many) interesting details in Belfast's excellent Titanic Museum is the explanation that the reason people came to do ship building there is that those were good middle class jobs!
65 per cent of Britons are owner-occupiers. General elections are won in the Midlands. Most people have a middle class occupation. The United Kingdom's comparative advantage is in services. These aren't facts that Philip Gould invented in order to make Labour feel sad.

That Belgian FA statement, with alt. The can of worms FIFA have just poured over themselves is huge. This has spooked all the European FAs. Their whole deal with FIFA has ALWAYS been that you don't let the leopard bite their faces. They just chomped on Belgium's nose www.rbfa.be/en/news/upda...

Also, laying the blame so fully on Musk - who is absolutely a dangerous and contemptible racist creep - is very convenient for the UK's newspapers, news channels and politicians who've either spread the self-same racist myths, 24/7, for decades, or have entirely abandoned any pushback against them.
I think we have to be careful about crediting Musk with power he doesn't have. That way you help feed the myth of being the omnipotent all-powerful puppet master that controls everything that happens in the world. That's the main psychological con-trick they use to make opponents give up in advance.

Every Irish pop culture podcast/person that I listen to or follow has talked about the fuel protests and spouted the “cut the revenue on fuel and that’s the issue fixed” talking point over the last few weeks. I’m not sure how you counter this level of poor understanding of the basics to be honest
Politicians just seem to have given up trying to explain the world as it is to people. It's a huge problem.

This is absolutely fine for the Prime Minister of a G7 nation trying to juggle several, era-defining geopolitical crises at once. No, the PM should not travel economy on commercial airlines just because it's cheaper. Leave idiotic, baited responses to yourself.
Starmer government’s spend on foreign trips is increasing, figures show

“We think that we should be in the thick of a war that helps the Russian economy” - a really important call that you absolutely should not be willing to sacrifice to the polls. You just shouldn’t hold it because it is absolutely crackers.
