and even if we were to win on this front, we'd still see representation filtered through paper thin characterizations and terrible writing (which is no better than what everyone else gets, but still)

by the way look forward to there simply not being queer characters in the vast majority of AAA releases now. that's just happening. lmao. and don't hit me with 'lol just don't play AAA' yeah no fucking shit. this is important regardless

Have you ever seen a guy who acted less concerned about whether he’s going to hell

Very glad I'd seen the first two prior to YCSE; I was ready for the mess. I wanted the mess

watching f for fake for the first time is one of those media experiences i wish i could relive. orson welles lending credibility to a story of dishonesty on top of fraud on top of surprise fraud, and then every few minutes welles tweaks your nose about it then invites you to believe the next thing

House of the Dragon S3 premiere made me so mad I'm actually posting. what dreck. what a loose watery stool of an episode of television. I've been hearing that the first two hours are good (because they're really the last 2 eps of S2), but if that's the case, hoooo boy.

and as a result, I care even less about these characters, these thinly-sketched collections of grim silent choices. I don't remember EVERYONE on GoT having nakedly obvious tragic flaws which make their imminent demise sting that much more. It's like the show itself thinks it's all so sad. 🤮

The editing truly almost made me gasp. There's the obvious ADR all over the place- were they always planning to find this entire thing in the edit? But the transitions gave literally four kinds of whiplash at once: tone, setting, continuity of action, emotional stakes. 7 kingdoms never felt so wee.

the extent to which it was NOT a season premiere was obvious, it was more or less a direct continuation of the action of the previous episode. no introductory scenes setting up the dramatic questions. Definitely no reacquainting with the characters, now that it's TWO YEARS since the last season.

25 years ago, terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people, including 2,753 New Yorkers. As we remember that terrible day, let us also remember the first responders, office workers and strangers who ran toward danger to help each other.

So we're going from HOMES to SHAME. A bit on the nose, if you ask me

Holy shit — the purpose of this Trump event is to announce that he’s changing the name of Lake Ontario to “Lake America.” It will be interesting to see which if any institutions and companies go along with this

NEW: I wrote for MSNBC about how Madison Square Garden turning off their facial recognition cameras for Taylor Swift is a perfect encapsulation of our dystopian present: where the wealthy can use surveillance to consolidate power, and the rest of us live in a privately owned panopticon.

ms.nowTaylor Swift and Travis Kelce got to buy MSG's privacy. Her fans aren't so lucky.Reports that Madison Square Garden temporarily shut off its facial recognition system for Swift’s wedding expose a glaring problem with how the elite wield and control mass surveillance.

The three players in this photo: 1. Nigerian heritage, grew up in England, and is only a citizen thanks to birthright citizenship. 2. Born + raised in Holland, has a dad who immigrated to the US from Suriname. 3. Said he wanted to “make people who look like me proud” while playing on Juneteenth

I think this is really unfair. Seems like he just misunderstood the advice he got from staff to "keep it open-ended".

Since Bolts began, there've been several instances of articles elsewhere building on us with no credit. The only place I can think of where this has happened repeatedly is the NYT. What is happening over there?! Please remember to support small independent media like Bolts.
