Disrespectfully, I need anyone who has not looked for a job within the past year to shut up because shit has changed. Your advice and experience doing this in the past means nothing. You have not job hunted like people are job hunting right now, don’t give people false hope with your outdated ideas

I wish we could get every American to read this Guardian article about how the tech billionaire elite are preparing to abandon the masses to slow, agonizing deaths and scheming how they will subjugate special forces, as they cling to power in the post-apocalypse: www.theguardian.com/news/2022/se...

theguardian.comThe super-rich ‘preppers’ planning to save themselves from the apocalypseTech billionaires are buying up luxurious bunkers to survive a societal collapse they helped create, but like everything they do, it has unintended consequences

I cannot possibly express how much the world needs a comic film starring Billy Zane and Vincent D'Onofrio as brother villains competing both to be the (secondary character) hero's nemesis and the "favourite" son of their mother (Kathy Bates). Hard R rating, but mostly for language and shenanigans.

This is in addition to a film in *any* genre starring Jeffrey Wright and Giancarlo Esposito, preferably something that lets them stretch the way they both did in their earlier careers (bonus points if Esposito's character is the same one from Nothing to Lose, because he was amazing in that role).

If your ad involves someone holding a lavalier microphone in their hand, I absolutely do not take that person seriously on any topic. I keep seeing it and I get the sense that it's supposed to be appealingly relatable, but... to whom? Is it one of those scammy weeding-out competent people things?

OK, a People's Bailout, a short thread. The oligarchs have a plan for how to exit the current economic collapse: with bailouts for the biggest banks, financial firms, and corporations. We need to develop plans for a People's Bailout. 1/x

So, at the bottom of the collapse, you guys know that this ends with the federal government spending trillions in public money to bail out the largest banks and companies, right? There ARE other options but that will require mass mobilization on a very large scale.

Let my achievement be hereby immortalized: I have completed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Stopped buying consoles between SNES and Wii, so never played the original. Bought a DS years ago, but never put the time in that OoT needed until now. Loved it, but still prefer Link to the Past.

Is there, like, some kind of head-trauma ritual social media managers need to go through ever April 1 to actually find this shit funny? I mean, I know that marketing people in general are usually pretty stupid and social media people doubly so, but April Fool's Day posts are a yearly low.

You ever just stop and remember that there was a time when Hollywood actually thought that Rob Schneider should have a movie career? (I mean other than his one-joke parts sucking the sweat off Adam Sandler's balls in Sandler movies)

Look, I fucking hate Trump too, but Mark Carney is still a Stephen-Harper-lite business-and-banking dipshit whose primary concerns are economic and whose solution to economic turbulence is austerity at the cost of social support. The Liberals are better than the CPC, but they're still shit.

If we speak of political realities as if they are immovable *they will remain immovable* and I think it's high time that we start speaking of possibilities more than impediments.

The thing about chasing charging speeds on-par with gasoline refueling is that, as I've said zillions of times, day to day charging at home or work can be slow AF and you won't care (so for the love of god get more chargers at workplaces and apartments etc.) and also ffs you could just be patient

WIRED@wired.com

Fast charging is viable, but experts say building the actual charging stations will be the tricky—and potentially very expensive—part.

I know I’ve featured this Indiana Jones scene on the Nazi Punch of the Day, but this version seemed particularly timely, given the ongoing attacks on education. #NaziPunching #NPotD

Three dickhead college students from the social group inclined to buy a Cybertruck and a wealth bracket able to afford one died due to LOSING CONTROL SPEEDING THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA WHILE DRUNK. What's the nightmare? That the fourth one survived?

Warren Wells, AICP@warrenjwells.bsky.social

What an absolute nightmare. A high school student saw his friends crash their Cybertruck and rushed to help, but was only able to rescue one of them because the car's doors would not open from the outside. He watched his three other friends burn to death. oaklandside.org/2025/03/18/c...

While I'm glad to see Musk's empire fall any way it can, I'm more than a little annoyed at how many of the people replacing their Teslas are moving to gas cars instead of other EVs. Almost like it wasn't about (misguided) environmentalism in the first place.

Oh good! This classic movie should help take my mind off of the loathesome profiteers passively killing innocent people for their own profit! Oh... Oh no...

'The Third Man'. set in (and beneath) post-War Vienna, is available on BBC iPlayer for the next 28 days (1/3) www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

As someone with Irish blood, St. Patrick's Day is an important part of my heritage. As someone with German blood, a holiday celebrating the extermination and expulsion of religious and ethnic minorities from the homeland seems slightly fucking insane.

THIS is what it means to exercise the Second Amendment. Government won’t protect your community? Strap up and make the Nazis afraid.

Air-rum@aarum.bsky.social

And again WE AINT GOING BACK we meant that part. On big sandals 🩴 period.

The great thing about living in 2025 is that every single thing freakishly wrong with the world today was anticipated by experts in the Humanities over the last century every time we stepped cliser to it, but they were dismissed as apocalyptic loons and fools.

As an intense and devoted fan of Peter S. Beagle, I'm unsurprised that this is a work of utter genius--and that my heart has once again been broken by the master.

Gailey 🍉@sarahgailey.bsky.social

I am so moved to get to share this with you all: the fourth installment in the Love Letters essay series. Nell, or: This Is Practically The Way It All Happened (give or bloody take), Peter S. Beagle's reflections on a thirty-five year romance with the woman he still calls "my one love".

yeh democrats aren't our friends or heroes they are obstacles to be bullied into submission

union person@junlper.beer

everyone getting vocal and yelling at chuck schumer and the rest of the senate democrats made them back off (for now). i’m not a huge fan of his framing here, but this proves we need to keep yelling at them endlessly to continue this pressure for them to be a remotely useful opposition party

This is a blatant--and, frankly, bigoted--lie. The decades-long assault on healthcare from conservatives has left many, many Canadians destitute due to medical needs. Most vulnerable are the disabled, who usually have needs that are simultaneously niche and expensive. This is a global issue.

This post is unavailable.

The ultimate irony is that the fastest solution to the world's problems is for Canada to just surrender now. I promise you: give Canadians second amendment rights and no border checks between us and Washington and this shit is *solved* in less than a week.

this might be terrible strategy in a country built on Protestant self-denial, but I really want someone out there loudly making the affirmative case that the country should not only spend but lose money. We are citizens, not investors.

Joad The Wet Sprocket@joadsprocket.bsky.social

If the Democrats can't bring themselves to say "government spending is good, actually" in this precise moment, then they really are cooked and all need to be replaced.

As a Canadian, I want to make this VERY clear: If we were making fentanyl in secret labs, it would be THE goddamn BEST fentanyl you ever saw and these bumbling chucklefucks wouldn't have clue fucking one about it. If you're going to lie, at least lie plausibly.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Kevin Hassett suggests Canadian authorities are covering up major fentanyl operations: "I can tell you that in the situation room I've seen photographs of fentanyl labs in Canada that the law enforcement folks were leaving alone. Canada's got a big drug problem."

It is just, like, SO fucking weird watching an entire nation of people who didn't pay attention in social studies class realize, en masse, that society is the result of mutual consent and not this weird objective *thing* that exists regardless of whether its citizens support it or not.
