Last month we lost our jobs. This month we made new ones.
Introducing X BUTTON: an independent gaming network from three ex-IGN employees. A new weekly Nintendo podcast! A new weekly video game podcast! And that’s just the start, but we can’t do it without your help! www.patreon.com/cw/XButtonShow
As a solo entrepreneur, AI-assisted coding has been great, letting me outsource the parts of the stack I'd rather not deal with (back-end, etc.).
Out there in the real world though, it seems like managers are doing a horrible job of setting sane boundaries.

Add it to the list of places folks should never work at.
Theyre admitting they'll take advantage of you, abuse you but hey! Youll get paid cause you're young, dumb, and don't know any better.
look lads. the newswire burst that Xbox CEO Asha Sharma spends "hours" responding to CS tickets - whether true or not - is low hanging corporate propaganda. throw that shit in the trash. it's an insult to your intelligence.
Nintendo is doing well right now while XBOX and PlayStation are going through a rough patch (a 180 from 10y ago), but make no mistake, this is bad news for everyone, developers and players, no matter what system you use. The 3 ecosystems gain from the other ones being healthy.
this project from @flo-heuberger.bsky.social is really shaping up to be incredible
... rendering in pure JS with no node APIs?
... faster than react-pdf?
... built-in vue and nuxt integrations?

It was hard enough losing Dolly yesterday. ☹️ And now, we cry a sea of black tears for our very own Doviculus: The irreplaceable Tim Curry.
May these beloved legends rest well, as we carry their spirit forward~

Company that union busts and fires its employees and then justifies it by spreading rumors they were leaking stuff are now insisting you have to sympathize with them because it’s heartbreaking what these leakers are doing to their employees.

An automated AI agent wanted to open a PR in @vitest.dev, but decided against it after reading our updated AI policy. What a marvel to behold

Matthew Karch, CEO of multi-studio dev & publisher Saber Interactive, made the odd decision to stand up & shit his pants in front of the entire games industry over an ex-employee criticizing the studios' use of gen AI.
My condolences to everyone who has to work around this type of feeble leadership
Hello! You, there with a website!
A lot of freelancing is booked up for the next month, so while I am still offering my services for review, I am also offering my services as a freelance copy-editor. Shit’s busy, you need help, I am happy to lend an experienced pair of hands/eyeballs.
So we found out this morning that everyone - myself included - from Restart's editorial staff has been let go. After like six layoffs in six years, that gif is my unfortunate reaction.
Looking! For! Opportunities! I guess I'm open for freelance for a while!

Of a robot taking over and shooting people dead in the street? 0%.
Of people ceding all their decisionmaking to computers that don’t do it well and that slowly sucking the soul out of society? Dead certain.
Damn, these Compact Disc sure do sound neat... If only they could hold even more data and transfer it faster... Like let's 25gb for a single sided disc and up to 50gb for a double sided one.
That would be some kinda true Blue Ray of sunshine in these dark times of expensive storage devices...
Announcing massive layoffs and a goal to reach one billion users in the same memo is just the ultimate bad vibes move. Earnest or not, no one sees that prospect as an exciting challenge to overcome. It looks like you’re being prepped for some Amazon-style piss in a bottle workloads.
This has such a huge impact on people in rural areas who have to deal with ISP monopolies with unusable speeds. The industry wants to act like the infrastructure is there for this to be the way forward, but big tech is just trying to leave poor people behind.

were up to me I probably wouldn't eliminate physical media for my forthcoming console right on the heels of delisting hundreds of digital movies from people's libraries and while on the cusp of a world historical digital storage supply squeeze, but I guess that's why they get paid the big bucks.
Honestly, she’s had to make a lot of tough calls but Asha is really stepping up and being brave for the sake of the XBOX Brand Shareholder. I still trust her, she’s my friend, and I love my Helix sweater.
