Tangled, though I'm keeping an eye on ForgeFed and radicle as well - forgefed.org - radicle.dev
Still stuck on GitHub The free cicd (esp. mac!) is keeping me there, as well as me not having taken the time to fully make my knot on @tangled.org usable. I'm used to https instead of ssh ๐ซฃ But already mirroring everything there, thanks for that tool ๐
I like cataloguing things: savannah.gnu.org/register/req... sourcehut.org codeberg.org forgejo.org tangled.org radicle.garden entire.io I also remember the one by Epic Games I want to use radicle.garden, but they don't have enough UI/web. Too much friction, unfortunately
I've added your links to a semble collection: semble.so/profile/stau... If you find any other git hosting platforms and want to collect them all in a single place feel free to add here!
Github, having it mirroring to tangled for the moment but that's pretty secondary atm. keeping an eye on what @ersc.io is cooking
how does this thread had no mentions of xit and haxy? not what i am using but what i hope to in nearest future
I get excited about every question in that space and hoped www.better-hub.com would be neat. It died before I could finish lunch ๐ญ. I have an architecture of something that treats AI agents as first-class citizens, but life happened and I put it on hold. I'll try to put it into a blog post.
Not a blog post, but some mockups of the user experience I have in mind: bsky.app/profile/mike... I still have to find a moment to write up my thoughts, mockups leave a lot unanswered.
Cloudflare asking for the next GitHub and bsky.app/profile/dani... was exactly the motivation I needed. Requirements: โขย A node is a single binary โขย Agents can work locally or distributed โขย ATProto for social / auth โขย Agents have their own identity โขย Provenance everywhere claude.ai/artifact/GR6...
Especially if I were in Europe, Iโd want to at least try Pushin by @peterullrich.com โ pushin.eu
Self hosted forgejo for private repos at the moment. I would like to avoid self hosted two forges, purely based on the time I need to spend maintaining the infra. Once @tangled.org has them, I'm all in!
Somehow this reads differently today... "perhaps even in a standardized way across forges that the git client can learn to talk to. " www.anthropic.com/engineering/...
Want to give @ersc.io a try Especially since I'm using JJ ,
not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for, but a certain company is looking at this github.com/tobi/walgit
@tangled.org! Preaching to the choir but atproto has so much potential. On top of that it does feel like Tangled is on a great trajectory, I love that you can self-host components but still share the social aspects. They've got neat stuff coming
After years of this question running in my mind I finally took the leap to build my dream forge (using @nuxt.com!). I call it Grove. It's P2P and totally abusing every latest modern Web API. I started writing about it here maninak.com/blog/git-is-... I'm grinding to open source it any day now.. ๐ฅต
I wander if something like this would tickle your fancy ๐ bsky.app/profile/mani...

- sourcehut for my personal website (they host gemini pages as well) I used to use git.gay and codeberg but I've found my new home on tangled. The only things tangled is missing for me: - repo templates - packages - signed commits - mirror (push/pull)
It certainly looks promising, though the self hosting looks kinda complex if you want to host the whole thing, right? Kind of like hosting a full Bluesky stack, not something I'd run on an RPi or a $5 VPS along with my Forgejo instance. I might spin up a knot though and play around with it properly.
This isn't an answer to "what do you use or want to be using", but for completeness, I've had these brand new forges bookmarked for a while: - Entire: entire.io/news/entire-... - Lore: lore.org - Depot: depot.dev - Harness: www.harness.io/products/cod... - open-git: open-git.com
Hello, fellow cataloguer hehe ๐

I use almost all of them. Not happy with GitHub, ignoring GitLab (had it selfhosted, but it got too hungry), trying Codeberg and Tangled. For my private stuff: just a bare git repository on my server reachable with ssh. No CI needed, I deploy from my machine (the server is also my machine, so ๐คท).
