i did a little Climate Week postmortem on data centers: co2 emissions are far & away the most alarming part of the buildout. but there hasn't been much of a reckoning beyond climate spaces kind of wondering when it'll enter the larger convo, if at all, and what that may look like

wired.comThe Data Center Backlash Should Also Be a Climate Reckoning. It Isn’t YetClimate groups are latching onto the data center opposition movement, but it remains to be seen if they can get people to care about the facilities’ impact on the atmosphere.

Am I understanding that Robert Kraft, whose hobby is paying for sex with sex trafficked victims, is upset with Macklemore for opposing genocide? And the NFL chose to listen to Kraft?

For a certain kind of white man, there is no fear more primal than the fear that the people they have abused will gain power and treat them the same way.

Anytime someone online calls themselves an “independent thinker” or “independent researcher,” you know you’re about to read some of the stupidest shit imaginable from someone spectacularly detached from reality. Their “independent” means independent of a functioning frontal cortex.

The President has decided that in order to make ground beef cheaper, he will cut tariffs on ground beef. And I'm wondering if he could generalize from this one product to other products, and perhaps concede that tariffs raise prices on American consumers.

There is no solar power crisis. No wind power crisis. No insulation crisis. No heat pump crisis. No e-bike crisis. No electric bus crisis. But there is a #fossilfuel crisis. And a #climatecrisis.

Wolfgang Blau@wblau.bsky.social

We should reconsider the term „energy crisis“ when speaking about the effects of the Iran war. This is very specifically a crisis of fossil fuels and their single point of failure. Fossil fuels are no longer synonymous with „energy“. We have other, better options.

Canada should take the same position as Iran. No deals of any kind with the Trump administration until it’s gone. We do not negotiate away our country to criminals, liars, rapists, traitors and anti-democratic thugs. America isn’t the enemy. Trump is. Fix your house.

Anyone who wants to take women's rights away is by definition a national security threat. Making a subservient class out of half the population is fascist terrorist activity.

Someone actually did a study a while back that showed the most effective way to get women out of TERF groups wasn’t people trying to change their minds, it was them getting literally any benign hobby, like learning other languages or taking up needlework

Rosa Parks' refusal to stand up and give her seat up to a white passenger on the bus was not some random, one time act taken because she was tired. Her action was part of a preconceived NAACP Bus campaign for equality and Parks was a dedicated activist. "Small" actions matters.

At this point, solving climate change is cheaper than not solving it -- not only on some grand 50 year time horizon, but tomorrow, today, immediately. Soving climate change *is* affordability. Maybe Dems should tell voters about that.

The air pollution from ppl burning gas in stationary vehicles while they’re playing on their phones drives me NUTS. Toronto needs to start enforcing its 1-minute idling bylaw @mayoroliviachow.ca and make the penalty steeper. This matters towards public health and climate goals.

Jason Rabinowitz@airlineflyer.net

Gas prices are not yet high enough and won’t be officially too high until people stop having lunch in their idling car on outrageously beautiful days like today.

As a proud Canadian I’m not OK with the mac & cheese ketchup-shaming of Joe and his kid. Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it. #survivor50

Congrats to Julie K. Brown! She was awarded a #Pulitzer Prize special citation today for her groundbreaking reporting in 2017 & 2018 for the Miami Herald exposing Jeffrey Epstein's systematic abuse of young women and the justice system & powerful network of associates that protected him for years.

Kind of weird that the president is a rapist, and a court reaffirmed it, and everyone knows it, and we're all just going about our days like normal.

Today, we honor and remember Virginia Roberts Giuffre on the one-year anniversary of her passing. Her courage has allowed countless survivors to be seen, heard, and to be believed. The Trump family's approach to the United States is based on the classic corporate raider's approach: 1) Take over a troubled yet very valuable target. 2) Strip out everything of value out of it. 3) Load it with debt. 4) Walk away with the loot before it collapses.

My latest. I’ve been watching the media coverage of the murders of Dr. Cerina Fairfax and Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer. One way media can fight back against male violence: If you kill your wife, you don’t get to be called a “husband” any more. You’re her killer. open.substack.com/pub/karenatt...
