Can we stop saying "mainstream media outlets" and just say "outlets owned by Bezos" or "outlets owned by Ellison"? Because "why is no one reporting this" seems a lot more straightforward when that is stated immediately.

Didn't we just see commentary from that one dummy yesterday that Americans were too invested in foreign elections? Does that calculus change when failed fascists flee their local authorities to literally go hang with Americans?

I think we need to make many airtight laws that prevent these freaks from getting within 500 yards of any further power.

A recent securities filing spotlighted what triggered Mark Zuckerberg’s months-long power battle with board directors at Meta — a fight that sparked not-so-veiled threats from Zuckerberg and led board members to contemplate quitting.

Going to spend my afternoon modifying my "He was a suave Six Flags Fright Fest actor, She was a humble rollercoaster operator that had just moved there from the big city" romance story to be Swan Boy characters secret origin fanfic.

"Who is that guy?" "That's George Washington." "Why is he in a fursuit?" "Found out about furries. Discovered this was his true self." "Does he ever take it off?" "This is Heaven. No."

Even if this were viable as a concept (that there's an afterlife; that it allows conversations with others; that enslavers are going the same place as you), who cares? Oh, are you mad at me, Ben Franklin? Tough shit.

But surely reporting on the medical field and the many studies performed focusing on general health that cause people to change their entire lifestyles, surely THOSE articles are written by science experts.

"why doesn't this tech journo know about programming languages" unfortunately, my dear brothers in christ, a tech journalist is just a business journalist who knows the hot keys for copy and paste the job is to talk about consumer products, stocks, and mergers not hash tables and sort algorithms

Maybe there's a God above but all I ever learned from love Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you It's no complaint you hear tonight It's not some pilgrim who's seen the light it's a cold and it's a lonely Hallelujah

Now is the time to care about everyone, not “once we win” The time to care about everyone is always always always now

So Trump's son-in-law managed to spark an international revolution, but I am pretty sure I remember 1,700 more news cycles about Biden's son owning a laptop.

The Supreme Court burns to the ground in Albania, Parliament and the Department of Education has been stormed, the Prime Minister is in hiding and the country is effectively in the hands of the rebels. Albania rejects blatant corruption and their country being sold.

Candidates need to run ads declaring “The US Government Won’t Let You See Your Precious Umas”

This is unequivocally the greatest expression of "I am wholly responsible for everything good in my life, and bad things are all the fault of everyone else" possible.

Politico@politico.com

“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

See? This is why we need to make sure the Target toy aisles are all properties that were firmly established in the 80's. If there are not racks of Transformers, He-Man, and Transformers that are somehow also He-Man toys, then we get scared and need an adult.

Gaius (from Tribunate)@gaius.bsky.social

Saw this on the shelf at Target and it’s like a portal to an utterly unknowable parallel world. As if i was peering into the dimension from Stalker

I think something that is rarely articulated but we all intrinsically know about this moment in time is that adaptive technology could be used to make our lives quantifiably better, but it is mostly just being used to trick you into watching an ad for a mattress.

Morgan Johnson@poormojo.bsky.social

No joke. I think this is the most important video I have ever seen about mobile games. This guy breaks down how this game psychologically profiles you, and makes the game harder or easier in order to show you ads

This was literally the premise of a Dilbert strip and I cannot imagine something sadder than independently recreating Dilbert from base principles.

imagine getting an invite to your weird friend's pity party and realizing they've been seething with hatred and resentment for their entire life

I always thought I was "weird", but it was more of a "there are millions of people like me, they're just not specifically here." Then, in my 20's, I realized pretty much everything I ever 100% enjoyed, from comics to TV dinners, got discontinued within 6 months. Then I really thought I was weird.

Gail Simone@gailsimone.bsky.social

QUESTION OF THE DAY: This sounds like a joke question, but it isn’t. If it doesn’t apply to you, fine. But it’s a serious question with different levels of meaning. And I am genuinely curious. When did you first realize you were weird?

leon@leyawn.bsky.social

new idea "one time" instead of 24 hours in a day there's just one. also there's only one minute, one second, one year, etc. "meet me tomorrow" sorry doesn't work anymore. tomorrow is today and so is yesterday. it's all now

Maybe we can just start saying "nearly 60 year old man doesn't quite get technology."

maybe i'm old fashion but the coolest thing about video games is being taken to new worlds that i hadn't thought up and experiencing something exciting that the artists behind the game want to show me

Call me crazy, but I feel like if a company is starting from a point of $80 billion in debt, then its executives should not be able to just be handed $1.1 billion for facilitating said debt.
