Someone described the output of the Russian figure skating training program as "joyless jumping girls" and I fear the AI craze may turn a generation into joyless coding kids.

It turns out that choosing the lesser of two evils is, in fact, a moral imperative. And some folks want to wait for the Revolutionary Perfect, but I would equally challenge them to demonstrate a single time where a 'start from nothing, year-0' revolution has turned out well for most people.

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

GM just announced the biggest stock buyback in automotive industry history. Instead of investing in their workers or new product lines, GM executives are robbing from the future to pay themselves and their shareholders today. Stock buybacks should be illegal.

i know everyone's talking about a different doc rn, but Once Upon A Time In Harlem is a must-see - a beautiful, artful homage to a period that still somehow gets overlooked. I talked with director David Greaves about it in my first piece for Playboy 😛😛😛😏😏😏

Not the point of the thread - which you should read! - but this is also why we have so many coupled, apparently redundant phrases showing up as legal terms in English. "Cease and Desist" "Last Will and Testament" "Null and Void" "Terms and Conditions" They're called "Legal Doublets."

Courtney Milan@courtneymilan.com

The word "attorney" is Norman; the word "lawyer" is Anglo-Saxon. There were courts of law and equity and ALL OF IT WAS A FUCKING MESS. Everyone who inherited this tradition--whether it be England, Canada, Australia, the US, or any other poor fools--has sorted it out in slightly different ways.

Chuck Schumer — one of the most powerful Democrats in the country — has not issued statements to the press or through his social media channels about the administration’s attack on Ilhan Omar, which critics have described as a five alarm fire for the state of democracy in the U.S.

TBC, since I'm actually at this place, this document doesn't endorse the views it recognizes as dominating Israel's current national security concept. It actually criticizes them.

South Korea secretly shipped Russia fuel, including diesel, and then picked a diplomatic fight with Ukraine. Meanwhile, Moscow is training North Koreans in drone manufacturing and helping them gain battlefield experience that threatens South Korea and the region. My latest for @cepa.org

cepa.orgUkraine Has Problems With Both KoreasSouth Korea’s recent behavior toward Ukraine seems mystifying given its vulnerability to attack from the North Korea.

I was confused why I was getting Maine ads all of a sudden, but I failed to make the Portland/Portland connection. I get so many Talarico and Vindman ads that I thought it was just more of the same.

It sounds like a wild conspiracy theory, but here is a notable example of how fighting for democracy anywhere is fighting for democracy everywhere: Ukraine hits Russian data centers...and election related misinformation, Trump trolls, and bots drop off social media in the US.

Alina Pereverzieva 🇺🇦@perevaa.bsky.social

And now the best part: Bot traffic from the #Yandex network has plunged to near zero following the strike on its Vladimir data center. Bot traffic includes automated requests from search crawlers, scrapers and other online services. Twitter must be a ghost town by now.

An amazingly stark example of how the US economy has broken: Zaslav clears nearly a *billion* dollars amid a CEO tenure where he made basically anything he touched worse, harmed multiple prestigious brands, led huge layoffs—but delivered a corrupt merger for shareholders. variety.com/2026/tv/news...

you almost have to admire the effective altruists for coming right out and saying “we feel a keen debt to the criminal who stole the money that provided seed funding for Manifund, which is why we’re hiring her and paying her with some of it instead of returning it to FTX creditors”

Molly White@molly.wiki

Fellow FTX executive Caroline Ellison is out of jail, and the Manifund effective altruist grantmaking organization has just let slip they hired her. She “brings specific, useful expertise around finance”, they say, which yeah — much in the same way that Bernie Madoff had very specific expertise.

Sigh. Added a couple of accounts recently that, while posting interesting content, also repost their stuff incessantly and repost many dozens of quote posts so I end up seeing the same fscking thing over and over and over and... Doing so many 'hide for me' ops just to get my timeline under control.

This is great. It articulates a lot of things that I and my colleagues have been trying to put together, but does it better and more clearly, and draws a clear line between the privatization of research funding, university self-governance, and faculty/worker organizing. Well done. 1/5

Sen. Susan Collins helped steer millions in federal defense contracts to Navatek, whose CEO illegally funneled thousands of dollars to her campaign. The FBI sought to launch a probe and was eyeing Collins and other lawmakers. Then Trump gutted the unit in charge. THREAD 🧵
