Hello fellow word nerds. I’m Greg, a silly little man who loves stories. Long stories. Short stories. Scary stories. Silly stories. Weird, fantastical stories. I love writing them, editing them, and figuring out fun ways to get others to read them, too. Maybe I can help you with your stories.

So hard to pick a favorite part of this article. Pretending that sending unsolicited dick pics at 53 was a “youthful indiscretion” is good, but don’t sleep on the argument that his wife forgave him for subjecting other women to unwanted nude photos so everyone else should too

Todd Blanche—the President’s personal lawyer—went to a prison to arrange hush money to be given to a sexual predator and place it on the record, because he knew that the Republicans, who control Congress, would nominate him to be AG anyway.

You can do the same thing, buying a house and borrowing against it—ha ha, just kidding, normal people get taxed annually on their wealth via property taxes, the "you can't tax wealth, the economy will collapse!" rule applies solely to the super-rich.

Steven T. Dennis@steventdennis.bsky.social

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

It's hard to believe but Democrats ran for decades against the "Bush tax cuts" and then made most of them permanent. Then ran against the "Trump tax cuts" and then didn't repeal them either.

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

NEW: US lawmakers say the Trump administration is breaking the law by withholding a secret court opinion about the surveillance of Americans, even as it presses Congress to renew America’s most sweeping surveillance program.

What if the husband took on those responsibilities because the wife is the breadwinner? You know, like a mature adult in a loving relationship would do?

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

There’s a house in my neighborhood that puts out pro-republican yard signs every election cycle but this year also has a “vote yes” on an amendment to the VT constitution that codifies workers’ rights and strengthens unions and if that isn’t a wide-open door for democrats I don’t know what is.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Trump's $5K checks have become a punchline because few think he will deliver. But he has given 1 million people a $500 check (mostly in swing states), and abt 20 million a $90 check (w propaganda letters). No-one applied. The process was automated, using administrative data to target payments.

Trump Accounts would allow corporations or their owners to make donations by zip code. So, for example, a company trying to set up a data center could give money to families in that region. This is the logic of the bribe state which Trump has enabled and supports. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "As far as data centers, we don't want to get controversial. The community that they're been built -- they're great, they give you a lot of money -- ask for a lot of money. Tell them to pay you $10,000, $15,000, $20k for everybody who lives in the community. They'll do it! You just gotta ask"

This is what they (and most internet companies at this point) have to do to turn a profit. If they don’t sell you out to advertisers, they go out of business, because most people would never pay (and certainly would never pay enough) to cover their overhead costs.

We'll see how far the attempt goes, even if it will clearly fail. But a constitutional system that sees such an attempt by its chief executive and then leaves him in office has already been shattered. Merely trying is betrayal enough and places him outside of constitutional or democratic legitimacy.

just some guy reposted

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.
