I voted last week and it feels amazing to be done and just waiting to see what happens!

John Scalzi@scalzi.com

Happy Monday, everybody! This week, have you considered voting early (if you can) and voting in person (if you can)? It's fun! Try it if you can!

It is incredible … how fucking expensive everything is. It’s also incredible that Trump is pocketing billions off of the backs of our labor and stealing it from our former allies … and getting away with it all.

A Florida family says police escorted them from a youth soccer field after parents complained that their 3-year-old son, Nevada, was dominating games against older children. His parents say he scored multiple goals despite being repeatedly substituted.

Well, shit. I guess $6 gas for my car and $9 diesel is cool, cool since “we” are making so much money!

Early this year, I visited Ingram, a TX town of ~1,900, to check out a tip. The area was starting to recover from its worst flood in a century. But as Latino workers drove to jobsites to help rebuild, the tipster said, a cop in a black Dodge Charger kept stopping them ... 🧵

USE BALLOT BOXES VOTE IN PERSON TELL YOUR FRIENDS DO NOT MAIL BALLOTS

ProPublica@propublica.org

Three days after the August primary, election workers in one Washington county went to check for late mail-in ballots. They expected no more than a few dozen. Instead, there were more than 500 — each a vote that wouldn’t count.

Clear takeaway: If you don't want the US government (under Trump, or anyone else in the future) or Elon Musk personally to surprise you by cutting satellite internet access you thought you had secured, the only way is to not use anything made by SpaceX. Otherwise, the risk will always be there.

Was it Musk or Trump? Who intervened to hinder Ukraine's satellite internet access, protecting Russian targets from Ukrainian launches? Can stop debating, it looks like the answer is both. Both are Putin sympathizers who have acted to help Russia before, and it'd probably take both to work.
