Palantir have just bought themselves a Labour Lord with close links to the Labour government. No other word to describe this other than corruption. How can Watson remain a member of the House of Lords and keep the Labour whip?

In May of 1940 there was a mass panic in Britain - stirred up by the tabloid press - about 'fighting aged men' who had come to Britain as 'refugees' posing a threat to the women and children of this country - and essentially forming a 'fifth column' that could, at any moment rise up against everyone

Kushner on Ukraine: “President Putin's laid out his line of what he wants to achieve. If Ukraine, you know, wanted to withdraw to that line, then obviously, you know, we have the rest of the deal set up and put together. Ukraine right now does not want to do that.” Putin’s brain cell

Burnham knew this would be the result of dropping his pledge to cap political donations, but he did it anyway. Labour are determined to midwife a Reform government, like plenty of other centrist parties before them whose weakness paved the way for right wing extremists.

Solving the housing crisis - the Burnham way. The announcement's only factual point is that it will be easier to approve denser housing near stations. A party for developers - fair enough. What it doesn't explain is how any of those attractively located homes will actually be affordable. 😏

Rather a shame that around 28% of the British electorate are daft enough to fall for that political scam artist. Says rather more about them than it does about Farage.

Nigel Farage suggests the police advised him against attending the result of the Clacton by-election. Essex Police completely deny this, telling the BBC "we have a proportionate and robust policing operation to ensure the safety and security of all participants in the count"

Middle East crisis live: Hormuz will stay closed until US ‘accepts all our conditions’, say Iran’s Revolutionary Guards

theguardian.comMiddle East crisis live: Hormuz will stay closed until US ‘accepts all our conditions’, say Iran’s Revolutionary GuardsIRGC says strait is ‘a theatre of war for us and not just a waterway’ Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a Gaza plan hailed by US president Donald Trump, vowing no military pullout of Gaza until Hamas is “genuinely” disarmed. “Israel rejects the 15-point document,” Netanyahu said, referring to a plan endorsed in late July by Hamas. Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian has said he believes now is the best time for an agreement with the US. “There is cohesion, strength, and unity in the country, and as far as I know, Iran is considered victorious and powerful in this war,” Iranian news agencies quoted him as saying. Oman condemned what it described as repeated attacks on vessels while transiting the strait, without assigning blame, and said that negotiations with Iran on arrangements for shipping through Hormuz were “positive and constructive”. The UAE said on Saturday that Iran had attacked a carrier affiliated with the UAE’s state oil company with a missile as it transited the strait of Hormuz. No injuries were reported. The UK maritime trade monitor UKMTO said a ‌vessel had caught fire after being hit by an unknown projectile but the fire was put out and there was no reported environmental impact. There was no immediate comment from Iranian authorities. US Central Command said on Saturday it had allowed more than 30 ships through for humanitarian aid since the current blockade started. US forces have turned away 53 ships, disabled two vessels and boarded two others, Central Command said in a statement on social media. Continue reading...

Done properly, devolution could be an effective way of tackling Britain's regional inequalities. What won't achieve it is the sort of pound-shop PR stunt Burnham is currently peddling. Real devolution requires a fundamentally different settlement: meaningful tax-raising powers, . . 1/2
