Im from Canada, I know very little about Britain. It's depressing to me that he didn't win. The idea that the people in that area had the opportunity to boot out a corrupt politician who was hiding bribes, and they chose to re-elect him? I still believe in democracy but what the fuck lol

Yeah. This kind of thing rarely happens in USA national-level stuff because the average USA rep is campaigning to 700k people vs ~100k for an MP. When look at comparably sized USA elections, I too would probably have voted for the Bin guy or not at all.

Turnout is usually low in the UK. UK “democracy” is embarrassingly flawed.

The main thing is Farage wasted Taxpayers money on a vanity election. He already had the job, it was just a very expensive ego boosting publicity stunt. Those £000's could have been used to improve the lives of Clacton's residents, but that is never on Reforms agenda.

That's a good turn-out for a UK by-election. Sometimes it's as low as 20-25%. The 45% turn-out actually fills me with despair. I hope the higher percentage was because of Count Binface supporters.

I think many voters boycotted this silly, expensive and unnecessary by-election - as did the somewhat more serious political parties.
