My feed is dark, and full of horrors 👹 I promise that life outside my screen is pretty chill, I'm just extremely online when it comes to politics, and have a morbid fascination with the rise of fascism in the modern West 😅

God isn’t it great having a labour government, labour MPs are so great if you ignore the unwillingness to nationalise anything, blaming migrants, attacking the disabled community and the constant unrelenting transphobia

First time successfully purchasing #MTGSecretLair during the queuing window. Feel genuinely bad for people who didn't get what they wanted - it's such a needlessly awful system. Normally I don't bother with the queue and just wait to see if any of the cards in which I'm interested remain unsold...

...but this one has a bit of a sentimental connection as Brian Froud and, by extension, Toby are (somewhat distant!) relatives. Jim Henson's Creature Workshop creations are some of my favourite things in the world and I grew up on a diet of Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal and their ilk.

It also feels way more like Magic than many of the other Secret Lair releases lately. Squen and Cragg and the whole cast of Lorwyn across the years would be so perfectly at home in these worlds. Looking forward to brewing some kind of EDH monstrosity when these cards finally arrive!

Why on earth does this BBC piece on Burnham telling an interviewer the UK security services confirmed Russian interference in the Brexit referendum require a response from a pro Brexit pressure group? It's literally our Prime Minister telling us about election security. It's nothing to do with them.

I could save a third of my monthly pay cheque by not paying my mortgage, but I'd lose my fucking home. It's like toddlernomics or something.

Provisional Met Office data shows this summer was the hottest ever on record. Thousands of deaths due to dangerous heat. Crops destroyed by drought. Homes threatened by fires. Labour must not approve Rosebank or Jackdaw in this new climate chaos. No new oil and gas.

President Trump likes to slap the name of America on everything. Gulf of Mexico? Gulf of America. Strait of Hormuz? Strait of of America. Lake Ontario? Lake America. Epstein Island? America Island.

Trump posts a graphic showing Lake Ontario renamed as "Lake America"

Anyone else get the feeling that, after the (maybe literal) dust settles at the end of Trump's presidency, they're going to have to pull down the whole White House and start again like they did with the Reich Chancellery?

For years, Telegraph columnists told us climate breakdown is a hoax. Now they say: it's real, but it's too late to do anything about it, so let the bodies pile high (again). Just one long list of excuses not to reduce fossil fuel use. Such newspapers bear as much responsibility as the oil firms.

Andy Burn 'em - surely not how he'd want to be remembered

Zack Polanski@zackpolanski.bsky.social

It's Day 1 of Andy Burnham being Prime Minister & Donald Trump is celebrating the destruction of our planet. Meanwhile Spain doubled it's renewables - before they had some of the highest bills in Europe and now some of the lowest bills. Labour need to stop appealing to Trump.

Argentina is such a fucking awful team of cheating, crying violent little babies. Utterly undeserving of any of their accolades, and terrible role models. Thank you, Spain, for playing great football and putting them in their place. Glad we had a better game in the play-offs.

Sigh. We re-invented cable again. This is like the entertainment industry equivalent of transport bros constantly re-inventing trains.

Amid signs of slowing engagement, Netflix is reportedly considering launching "always-on" live channels, giving subscribers something to tune into 24/7.

"Any effect? Oh, no, none at all. I'm just a li'l bitch. Self-respect is for losers."

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

WOW -- Danish reporter *goes there* with Rutte "You sit next to Trump when he talks about conquering Greenland, lashes out at allies like Spain -- things it doesn't seem like the old Mark Rutte would approve of. Does this have any affect on your self-respect when you sit there and say nothing?"

Watching this game with headphones on while my wife sleeps upstairs has been a challenge. Trying not to make any noise while jumping up and down and frequently fist-pumping the air has definitely confused the cat.

For no particular reason, obviously, this weekend I found myself remembering all those allegations about mysterious dark money funding untraceable Facebook ads during the Brexit campaign.

Kier Starmer may not have been a *terrible* Prime Minister, but he *was* the kind of Prime Minister who removed the whip from his own back-bench MPs for voting for a policy that he later claimed as one of his successes in his resignation speech. I think that says a lot about his political instincts.

And this is before we get to support for a government committing genocide, ever more deranged attacks on the right to protest, ripping down planning and environmental protections, kowtowing to corporate lobbyists and treating the left of the Labour Party as the real enemy to be crushed.

BrianinFrance@brianinfrance.bsky.social

It's all too obvious to me. A massive majority squandered on pursuing further austerity measures, needlessly chasing Reform, failing to reverse the damage caused by Brexit and not understanding the benefits of immigration and freedom of movement. Just plan dumb government.

At a time when some seek to divide our communities, let's instead celebrate the simple of acts of courage that bring us together. Remember, we have more in common with someone seeking safety than with the billionaires pointing the finger. Refugees welcome.

Seems like PA has even more in common with the Suffragettes than Baroness Carr would like to admit.

10 years ago tomorrow, William Mair murdered Jo Cox at a constituency surgery, and since then the two legacy parties and the principal insurgent party in the UK have essentially been in competition for his vote when he's eventually released from prison.
