Nerder. Soccer by way of American Soccer Analysis. Seattle Mariner fan, general fan of sports tragedy and I play too much video games.

I don't jump on this app very much mostly because I hate being on here but allow me to expend some energy and say this is the most Sounders move one could have hypothetically come up with, and I vibe with it.

Personally, I love hearing all the takes, by both pundits and fans alike, on how to "grow" MLS when they don't engage with it or the fans of these clubs with any sort of regularity. Honestly, it's not perfect but the state of MLS is pretty good.

There is no pressure to succeed in MLS and the firing of ONLY 5 coaches at this point in the season is the proof. In a real league with Pro/Rel at least half of the clubs would be under new management.

On Austin FC’s big changes, with Rodolfo Borrell and Nico Estevez out. Austin is the fifth (!) MLS team to make a coaching change already this season www.nytimes.com/athletic/728...

Fascism, betting markets, and loneliness are all connected, writes @andreagrimes.com. "To the extent that loneliness is a man-problem, it’s an everyone-problem, because however lonely they may be, men still hold disproportionate power both systemically and privately."

Awesome!

Denver sets new #NWSL attendance record in its inaugural home game with 63,004 fans. Thoughts from Denver Summit FC control owner Rob Cohen, Summit players, and Trinity Rodman as the Spirit play the role of away team again on another record day. 👇

Fans can stop guessing how #FCCincy leadership feels about the team's rocky start to the season. Co-CEO Jeff Berding gave me a few minutes on that topic this week, which you can hear in full on the latest Queen City Press Podcast Preview Show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.

Reminder: Georgi is the reigning, defending Cutbacks King of MLS.

Tom Bogert@tombogert.bsky.social

Sources confirm @elrolonw.bsky.social’s scoop: The Colorado Rapids are acquiring winger Georgi Minoungou from the Seattle Sounders. Deal will be worth around $2m GAM I’m told. Minoungou, 23, one of the league’s best 1v1 dribblers. Minoungou is under contract thru 2029 (including options).

Jeremiah had estimated that the Sounders still have ~$3.85M GAM that they can convert/acquire from previous moves that they could use. This puts them at ~$5.85M, plus takes ~$300k in cap hit off from Georgi’s budget charge. Some of that could be used to make Petkovic’s move permanent, potentially

Tim Ostlund-Foss@timostlundfoss.bsky.social

this move also means that the Sounders can sign Peter Kingston and still have space to make another addition, whether that’s now or in the Summer, opens an international roster spot, and adds to what @jeremiah.sounderatheart.com has reported to be an already pretty big GAM war chest.

As always @tombogert.bsky.social with the accurate info. I can also confirm that #Sounders is holding on to a sell on fee for Georgi Minoungou although it is less than the usual 15%. It is also important to add that the $2M in GAM is a club record and has escalators beyond that amount.

It's out! The second episode of Football Cities is live. I went to Monterrey to explore the rivalry between Tigres & Rayados, let you know how to get to the gleaming Estadio BBVA, &, of course, show you the best tacos, coffee & activities the Sultana del Norte has to offer. youtu.be/v93pQ9sWW_8?...

Not gonna lie, I was SUPER skeptical on Morgan Guilavogui but the dude was just gone out and done so much good early this season.

RSL's really, really good, man. They've been giving San Diego hell all game long. Also: very obvious Face of the Week winner from Pablo Mastroeni here!

So many uninteresting match-ups this week in MLS. I feel like the main story following last week and the latest round of CCC games is how teams recover from their mid-week game.

I want to get that tattoo.

spotify. i'm begging you. let us turn off comments. i don't want to see comments on podcasts. i just want to listen to podcasts. not everything has to be social media. in fact, less things should be social media.

Always a good Friday dump...

Friday Stat Dump: Yellow and Red Cards After a few second yellows and straight reds last week, it felt like MLS 2026 has had a rash of games shorthanded at the end. 12 of 44 regular season games so far have ended that way, putting us at a higher pace, so far, than other TAM Era seasons. 1/

Honestly, I might be reading into things here but it feels like there is a lot more here than just a simple coaching change. 3 games?

Tom Bogert@tombogert.bsky.social

Orlando City and head coach Oscar Pareja mutually agree to part ways. Pareja joined Orlando ahead of 2020 season. Club missed playoffs in all 5 years before him… then made it in all 6 years with him. Won 2022 US Open Cup. First manager change in MLS this year, just 3 games in.

I was looking forward, in concacaf champions cup, to watching LA Galaxy face off against Mount Pleasant Academy, from Jamaica… But it turns out like 10 of the latter’s players were denied entry, bc they are of Haitian origin, and travel ban. I swear to god…
