Nearly half of British youth would rather be young in a world with no internet. It’s a damning indictment of what social media has become. As its harms continue to grow, governments need to act — but they must take the right measures instead of reaching for easy fixes.

As we've said, everything out of Carney's mouth comes from Ford's "Fortress Am-Can" plan, which proposes integrating Canada into the US, including military. You might not want Canada as the 51st state, but the people Carney and Ford work for do want that. Very much. www.thestar.com/politics/fed...

The influence of Oil & Gas industry is so widespread. I couldn't figure out immediately which country this headline was referring to, if not for the hashtag.
‘A former gas executive has been appointed to the new role of territory coordinator, granting him "extraordinary powers" to green-light private development in the Northern Territory.’ Sheesh 🙄 #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05...

When victims of male-perpetrated abuse spoke up, we were told that we were “ruining lives with accusations.” What does it say that, even with reports that are credibly true or bona fide sexual abuse convictions, a man can still thrive, be elevated professionally, or even become President of the US?
So, uh, Kevin Spacey is getting a lifetime achievement award at Cannes…in case you were concerned about how #MeToo is ruining abusive people’s lives.

Last summer, I documented how Oilers Entertainment Group pressured the City of Edmonton and its police to remove unhoused people (60% Indigenous in Edmonton) from the area they were attempting to commercially develop. Clearing the Plains––>Clearing the Tents. drugdatadecoded.ca/appreciate-t...
Alberta wants ownership of those resources. They’re following the old colonial playbook by removing Indigenous children from homes and communities thereby destroying cultures and lives of the Native population. It’s directly related to natural resource extraction.

So the state system that Tanguay now leads is conducting medical experimentation on people. What people? You can likely guess: the kids PChAD seizes are 40% Indigenous. The new system is expected to heavily target unhoused Indigenous adults & youths. 4/ drugdatadecoded.ca/alberta-ends...

I'd very much like to know what's the position of canadanurses.bsky.social about these policies & institutions. Doesn't the care provided here run counter to nursing ethics code?
I missed this: BC is holding involuntarily hospitalized people - by definition among the most vulnerable - in solitary confinenent. This runs counter to Mandela Rules and, going by prior court rulings, Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms. www.mapleridgenews.com/home2/bcs-fi...

Canada could be a much better place but the Liberal supporters won’t call out their party’s support for a violent supremacist ideology even while they’re exterminating human beings over it.
If I wasn’t here the Liberal Party of Canada and their supporters would keep ignoring a genocide and have love fests forever.

Liberals have the nerve to utter “reconciliation”with Indigenous people while expressing solidarity with another colonizing state that’s annihilating a group of humans and erasing them from the face of the earth.

This is why men’s “loneliness” is a crisis when it’s precipitated by women’s rights and independence, and women’s “loneliness” is not a crisis when it is precipitated by men’s violence. Women are not seen to be entitled to care from men that way; they have no moral claim to collect on.

“Male loneliness” is kind of the perfect antifeminist complaint, because it articulates the moral logic of patriarchal entitlement very neatly: that men deserve women’s attention, company, devotion, sex, and care, and women should provide these to men even at the cost of their own wellbeing.
Workplace discrimination and harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence - these very often leave victims desperately lonely but this loneliness somehow never merits discussion as a "crisis"
