Sen. John Kennedy on Trump's blatant reflecting pool lies: "The president says it was caused by vandals. I don't know if he really believes that or it's part of his political messaging or he's just thinking out loud ... he grows anxious when he has an unexpressed thought."

Of course he did.

The Texas attorney general appears to have used an address where he did not live while voting in six elections in the past two years — despite his warning voters that “it is illegal to misrepresent your residence on election records.”

President Trump said he is considering taking a government stake in leading artificial intelligence companies. Industry leaders will soon gather at the White House to discuss the idea, the president said.

When it happens, unlike some of you, I genuinely won’t be celebrating the death of Giuliani in the same way I was not happy when Kissinger died. Because however remote the possibility, every day he’s not alive is a day where the chance of him seeing the inside of a prison cell reaches zero

performative stupidity.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) introduced a bill to block the construction of new data centers until lawmakers enact regulations on AI. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) is planning to introduce a similar House bill in the coming weeks. https://wapo.st/4swrPRz

I don't do hyperbole. Just unfollowed a guy for hyperventilating about ICE abuses. And I oppose ICE as much as anyone. Factual accuracy, please, or the people who matter will stop listening.

sorry to reopen this wound but the number of elite conservatives declaring a fatwa on Cracker Barrel for no reason, I want to see proof that they’ve even stepped inside one in the past six years. I, Midwest Swin, am now looking at a giant stuffie cow I bought for my son, at a Cracker Barrel

Asking "Is AI real intelligence or not?" really misses the point badly. Rather ask whether AI has useful applications. * LLMs are the only halfway decent approach to machine translation; Google Translate can be pretty horrible. * Vector embeddings can be incredibly useful for search. And so on.

The JROTC teacher at my high school was a B-26 tail gunner. He told us his crew never expected to live through the war. On weekend liberty they'd blow their entire pay in London at the most expensive hotels, taking a taxi from one side of the street to the other and back, tipping 200% for meals.

"[T]he parade" feels like Trump-style phrasing to me, has it rubbed off on everyone? Oh well, this is one of those rare occasions that Rand is right.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rand Paul: "I've never liked the idea of the parade. I grew up in the '70s and '80s, and the only parades I can remember are Soviet parades for the most part or North Korean parades. The parades I remember from our history were different...we never glorified weapons so much...then there is the cost"
