The idea of the AI developer as someone burgeoning with wonderful, never before seen ideas who just needed the tools to realize them is by and large a fantasy. The reality of the AI developer is someone producing spam at volume who has no ideas of their own, so just clone something popular.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

It is generally good life advice that if you ever hear some "everyone knows" third party gossip about a trans creator or public figure, your 1st instinct should be to disbelieve it, your 2nd instinct should be NOT to pass it on, and 3rd to check VERY THOROUGHLY who's saying it and where it came from
One of the worst parts of being a creator, especially a trans one, is watching disinformation about you spread from bad actors to other folks like a bad game of telephone so you see people literally judge you on shit you never said/did or is completely opposite to the point you were making.

never trust AI summaries on search engines. i have firsthand seen it quote fatfur foods as a citation and source for things i'm trying to research to get a fact base for the same posts it cites it's scary to directly see that Google's AI can just call anything it finds a definitive source of truth.
there is something so uniquely upsetting about trying to find details on an underexposed art installation from 2016, trying to Google it, and the AI summary at the top of the page uses *my own post* to try to inform me about it brother I made the post and I'm just going off of one picture on reddit
