Damn, that's embarrassing: I deleted 2 skeets because while I was quote-skeeting about Teresa Wright, the movie stills I posted were Jeanne Crain. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Well, well, well…. An analysis of voter registration records reveals Republican operative Scott Presler had 3 out-of-state voters use his Pennsylvania address to vote in the 2024 election. This is what voter fraud looks like.

One reason I kinda envy the US primary system is because it is really, really funny to watch conceited, narcissistic morons like him burn millions of dollars to get 5th place in Iowa because they act like they are the first guy to ever run for president.

This thread is a banger. Terfs/GC frame trans women in women's spaces as would be predators waiting to attack, when in reality trans women are women who need that space for the reason it was intended. Transphobes don't see trans people as actual people, but as an amorphous scary mass.

And of course, terfs/GC/transphobes are laser focused on trans women, overlooking what their desired laws do to trans men. bsky.app/profile/indi...

When Ty Masterson & crew rammed an asinine bathroom bill through the Kansas legislature, they didn't take trans men into account. Now a group of trans men, the Compliance Crew, are protesting the law by complying with it. Good for them! ❀️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBt1...

If a trans man needs to pee and you insist that all trans people use the toilet according to their gender assigned at birth, you are insisting that a man enter the women's bathroom. You are yourself arguing that women's spaces be breached by a man. You have just created what you claim to fear.

(It reminds me of that quote, "Feminism is the radical notion that women are people." Contrary to what terfs/GC/transphobes believe, trans women are women and trans women are people.)

I *think* the main place I remember is The Spaghetti Shop, but La Gondola in Bloomington also did spaghetti-by-the-bucket. And TIL there's a chain out west called By the Bucket. Cool!

It's amazing the number of norms that have just been shattered in the last 10 years. Do you remember how shocking it was when Trump started having rallies after he became President? (Or was it just me finding it shocking?) He had 10 rallies in 2017, the 1st less than a month after his inauguration!

The psychic damage Trump winning twice has done is it's no longer safe to mock the chances of spectacularly unqualified candidates with name recognition.

And when journalists do ask, too often it's a carefully curated group or demographic. How many stories ran about Trump voters in 2017? Way too many. How many stories featured Clinton voters? Less than 5, and one was in the Toronto Star.

P.S. I love libraries, too. This is the old Little Rock library, which was built on the site of the old Carnegie library. I adored everything about it, from the books to the huge globe to the powdered soap in the restrooms. It smelled of fine stone and paper. ❀️

(The new library (the Central Arkansas Library System Main Library, if you want to get technical about it) was opened in 1997, replacing the building from childhood. I'm not really familiar with it since I moved to Illinois in the 80s, but I include it for the sake of completeness.)

Here's another exhibit which had a huge impact on me: Paris Street, Rainy Day by Gustave Caillebotte. It's in the Art Institute of Chicago (fabulous place!), and again, the size is overwhelming: 212.2 cm Γ— 276.2 cm (83.5 in Γ— 108.7 in). Seeing things in person can affect how you react to them!

Some things are better appreciated in person. For instance, the Rosetta Stone. It was always shown in my textbooks as below, & my impression was of a flat slab of rock, maybe about 2" thick, about the size of a laptop. Then I saw it at the British Museum in 1983. That sucker is huge!

At the time, it was displayed a bit tilted from horizontal, so what I saw was this huge boulder. Gobsmacking! It's now displayed upright, like this. Size = 1,123 mm Γ— 757 mm Γ— 284 mm (44.2 in Γ— 29.8 in Γ— 11.2 in).
