First day of roadtrip. Glad we decided on a short first day, and glad to be in an EV. We were able to have the aircon on while waiting for 3 hours due to a delay at Le Shuttle.
First stop Reims.
The ECHR is not a "left-wing project" but a "safeguard against arbitrary government"
He describes the Tory party now as “a political party that cannot tolerate support for fundamental human rights.”
What a disgrace. How are they different from Reform exactly?

Undercover: "A year in Reform"
Warning: Vile people. Vile language.
Exposé of Nigel Farage's Reform Party, it's Tory defectors, and it's acolytes.
(Underscores the ugliness of the BBC in relentlessly platforming Reform throughout the Brexit campaign and beyond)

This is garbage @reuters.com. I expect better from you. This isn't news, it's unverified second-hand speculation.
"Britain is considering ..."
"the Times newspaper reported ..."
"Reuters could not immediately verify the report."
Q: You said Russia and Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire, but both sides said they have not agreed to that
TRUMP: Well they agreed, you know why? Because I said 'you agree.' That's why.
Take notice of this. The pay-per-mile scheme puts people off.
The scheme could be modified in a fiscally neutral way so it doesn't put people off. Make pay-per-mile apply to all cars the same and reduce fuel duty to make it fiscally neutral for petrol/diesel drivers.

Currently waiting for new tyres being fitted on EV. They've done 30000 miles and still have much more than legal minimum tread, but I don't penny pinch with tyres. I don't notice the supposed quicker tyre wear with an EV - I think it might be exaggerated by those who spread anti-EV FUD.
Dear EV manufacturers and motoring journalists - if you have to press the brake pedal to come to a complete stop, that EV doesn't have "one pedal driving", because you have to use two pedals. Surely this is quite clear from the terminology. One pedal. Not two pedals.
New car registration data from SMMT for September 2026.
Surprise increase in diesel registrations given it's now about £2 per litre and will probably rise even more.
Pure electric (BEV) doing well. PHEV increasing lots - but I really think many of those buyers would have been better off with a BEV
Couldn't make it to Agile Cambridge?
Lean Agile Scotland runs at the end of this month...

Running a business, I'm sure you make choices for rational economic reasons.
There are something like 15 million new cars sold every year in the USA. A lot more of them could be EVs very easily, if people were rational in their personal car buying choices.
So, Banksy bought a used yacht, repaired it and retrofitted it to serve as a rescue boat to save migrants in the central Mediterranean. The whole project cost the artist $860,000. Since 2020, the boat has saved more than 3,800 people.

I understand people’s trepidation toward change but switching to an EV was so much easier than I thought it would be. 4 years in and very happy with our purchase.
High gas prices are now.
Climate change is now.
If you are shopping for a car anyway, make it an EV.
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston: "That's what the lifeboat does. It saves lives at sea. That's its job."
"And this is an international duty. Everyone who goes to sea knows, in the event of someone being in difficulty, you go to their assistance."
The abuse the RNLI have faced is a disgrace.
Ridiculous sums of money don’t level the playing field - they distort it. It’s increasingly urgent that we get to grips with Political funding in Britain - our democracy is for sale to the highest bidder.
So Refuk have now had 2 donations of £36m
All because they want crypto deregulation / low taxes and are happy to see us all stripped of our rights, foreigners to be targeted for deportation, disabled people to be financially penalised and for the nation to be divided, as long as they end up richer.
Now why would a very rich man give away money? Farage is a creature bought and paid for by the wealthy not a man of the people.

Reform UK given £36m donation by a crypto billionaire convicted in the US for failing to implement adequate anti-money laundering controls, pardoned by Donald Trump.
Is it legal?
Dwarfs £15m from a Thailand based crypto billionaire
What have they been promised?
Hate politics funded by the rich.

New car registration data for August out today.
What do the last 4 months of data show?
Petrol down, BEV up. Every month.
Reality makes no difference to some petrol-head YouTubers, but manufacturers need to take notice if they are going to succeed.

The problem with Farage’s lie about being advised by the police to stay away from the count on security grounds is that he’d already given the real reason.
Leaders of flag-raising group Raise the Colours Oxfordshire placed trackers on highway workers’ cars to find out their home addresses, the High Court has heard. RTC then attempted to intimidate the highway staff into no longer removing flags by repeating their addresses to them.
A very well balanced video, despite the negative looking title. Listen to it all - don't cherry-pick.
The only thing I'd add is, if you can't charge at home, look into what chargers are available in your area on an app like "zapmap" as there might be more than you realise.

Price of oil back up over $100/barrel. If you are shopping for a car this weekend, it’s definitely time to consider a full EV.

🇪🇺 The EU just banned #fashion companies from destroying unsold clothes. Companies must find ways to sell the product via discounts, alternative markets and charity donations. Unsold product can only be destroyed if it is counterfeit, irreparably damaged, deemed unsafe, or rejected by charities.
