I realize I've not done an introduction post for myself, so: I'm Jacy Eberlein, I have a BA in English from the University of Alberta. I ran for St. Albert city council in 2017, then worked a variety of jobs before working with the Alberta NDP from 2019-2021.

Halloween season is here, and it's never too early for parents to start inspecting the candy their children consume. Be sure to look for the telltale signs that their treats may have been tampered with:

People mistakenly take away from Thompson that doing drugs is entertaining When the real message--based on what I've read in multiple biographies--is: get your ADHD medicated and don't get involved with harder drugs nor Jann Wenner

sure, Brazilian folks recommend not engaging or screencapping bad-faith right wing actor on social media, and to ignore them. But for hundreds of liberal and left posters, Media Matters, and discourse sickos, that’s unfair to ask of them, they need those screencaps to build their outraged followers.

For some reason, this has long been one of my favourite paintings. Perhaps it is the realistic yet disproportionate rendering. The expressions have always struck me as well, dulled and unseeing. A slight surreality to the entire composition. Delightful.

@leyawn.bsky.social I was trying to figure out what video game the song I was singing was from for the entire day and it was return to bird world ffs

Here's an essay my aunt Xujun Eberlein wrote about her mother's lover, Ms. Daylily. If this speaks to you, you'll probably enjoy the book, which is centred around the same themes. pubs.lib.uiowa.edu/iowareview/a...

Book folks, Catapult press announced they're going under last night. However, it sounds like their current round of publishing—including my aunt's book—will still go through. Please consider preordering The River Drowns the Able Swimmer wherever you buy fine books today.

Getting lightly evangelized to by a relative when I grew up a forum atheist is like being headbutted by a bumblebee

The single discord I was in had a problem with this. The problem is that the vibe killer was the original owner of the discord, and came back to try and make it about whatever new bullshit he was trying to pull like three years later. I'm no longer on Discord.

Workers at Play I was given this roll by someone I worked on a camera for as partial payment when I asked for something weird. For how expired it was, I'm delighted with the results! 📷 Olympus 35 RD 🗓️ October 2026 📍 Edmonton, AB 🎞️ Fuji Superia 200 #believeinfilm #analog #photography #yeg

I got a call from the photo lab that they had cut my film into strips when I didn't want it cut, so they made prints by way of apology Wow those Nortisu prints are terrible compared to my scans #believeinfilm

If enforcement was an effective deterrent for unwanted behaviours, the prisons would be empty. I hate the UCP, but we can't keep treating motor vehicle incidents as an individual problem with individual solutions.

ONE OF THE KEYS WAS JUST "4"???

Appalling. Damn it, Peter. It's too good!

Every once in a while I see one come up on marketplace and I spend a few minutes imagining how I could rearrange my furniture.

My friend's engine just exploded coming back from a road trip. He's finding that used cars at the dealerships start at about $16k CAD. Cars do not enable freedom of movement; they are a weight around the necks of citizens. And we continue to build cities such that they lock us into these weights.
