During my 50 years in this supposedly “evenly divided” country, we’ve had a liberal-majority SCOTUS for exactly 0 years. The idea that America "swings back and forth" is just right-wing marketing BS. What we’ve seen in the US is a relentless 75-year erosion of civil rights and public power.

so according to the CDC, *foodborne illness* is responsible for about 930 deaths a year. "food-induced illness" is a made up term RFK is using for basically every cause of mortality minus suicide.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RFK Jr defends measles: "In 10 years, there have been 3 measles deaths in America. There are now about 1.2 million deaths every year from food-induced illness. The media and certain demagogic politicians are constantly trying to scare us about infectious disease."

Fun fact — and reminder: For all their focus on “officer safety” and arguments about aggressive tactics being necessary, no ICE officer has ever been killed in the line of duty. It is more deadly in the US to be an elementary school student than an ICE officer.

Objecting to the destruction of USAID is a pretty clean litmus test for being a serious person and not evil a surprising number of otherwise bad people pass this test, and a shocking number of people who pretend to care do not

Faine Greenwood@faineg.com

So sure, USAID was a tool of US soft power and political influence, and also, I sometimes get the sense that people saying this don’t quite comprehend the torrent of death, horror, and pain that is currently unfolding from the genuinely evil decision to suddenly destroy it.

In a 2012 divorce deposition RFK, Jr. described cognitive problems, including telling doctors and lawyers about a possible parasite that "ate" part of his brain, and he used those ailments as part of an argument that his earning capacity was diminished and therefore alimony should be reduced. #USPol

In the midst of an awful lot of ever-so-sophisticated equivocating and oh-so-thoughtful-chin-stroking and too-clever-by-half-over-thinking, I just want to say, simply and unequivocally and for the record: The Resistance Libs Were Right.

It's almost like when you gut food safety regulations, staff, and enforcement to give billionaires tax breaks, all the stuff breaks. Weird.

Did a quick Google News search for 'food recall' to see why it was trending, and the results tell us why: Buffalo chicken Guacamole Dips Milk Rice And those results are just from the last 24 hours. Good luck, everyone.

I worry about the narrative on this stuff because young people are so impressionable and not going to college is just such a huge mistake over your lifetime earnings. It’s deeply immoral to see Ivy-educated conservatives argue against college because they know they need angry, undereducated voters.

Maybe we should remember Lindsey Graham the way Fox News is remembering him this morning. For his rabid defense of Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing. Never forget: Graham’s speech helped push Kavanaugh across the finish line and onto the Supreme Court.

Trump took another cognitive test and had another physical at Walter Reed. Has it even been two months since his last physical? There’s a massive coverup surrounding the President’s health happening right now.

MeidasTouch@meidastouch.com

Wow: Trump says he just finished yet another physical at Walter Reed and has requested another cognitive exam as rumors and evidence continue to pile up about his declining health and mental state.

Watching this Administration start and lose a war of choice with Iran for reasons they still have been unable to articulate hammers this point home. It’s stochastic terrorism and internet grievances dressed up in a trench coat pretending to be a government.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.
