this is something Dems can just hammer on for the next two years televised hearings every week about Epstein, Epstein, Epstein make the drumbeat so loud the media doesn’t have a choice in covering it

I would love to live in a world where "President faces new rape allegation" isn't treated like a dog bites man story in the major media.

Much of What Democrats Must Do boils down to valuing the good faith opinions of millions of Americans who vote for them more than bad faith opinions in media. They’ll call truth and justice “weaponization.” They’ll say voters don’t want accountability. They’re wrong, and Dems don’t have to listen.

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

If Democrats actually win big because people want a check on Trump corruption I expect every move to do so will be covered in the corporate media as being risky to their 2028 position.

Yes, exactly this. Outstanding thread. 👇

🧵 Matt Yglesias is one of the biggest reasons the Democratic Party leadership is so feckless, cowardly, and lazy. I'm not exaggerating. Yglesias is often a featured speaker at private Democratic Party events, despite almost always being wrong. Let's discuss...

Same! Heading over for IPEV tomorrow, likely around midday. Have already checked out my sample ballot from findmypollsite.vote.nyc and know how I'll be voting for every candidate and proposal.

I’m voting tomorrow, in person! What’s your plan? My sample ballot’s marked, so I know exactly how I’m voting, and it should be quick work! This election, you should vote early too, either in person or by using an official, secure drop box. Don’t wait until Election Day. #VoteEarlyDay

Democrats are preparing to investigate Musk if they win control of the House in November, Politico reports. Potential probes would focus on his DOGE leadership, federal job cuts, alleged data breaches, government contracts and Starlink’s role in Ukraine.

Hope? Hope for whom? You MFers have gone from sanewashing and bothsidesing to outright rooting for fascists.

With just over two weeks to go until the midterm elections, Republicans reeling in a sour national environment have pulled spending out of tough territory, essentially cutting their losses in some races in an effort to rescue others. Yet signs of hope exist. nyti.ms/4zJ65VT

Almost or maybe exactly zero Dem ads (except ours) say Trump corruption or MAGA corruption or Republican corruption. They are all running against “DC corruption”and saying they’ll stand up to both parties. Absolutely idiotic strategy.

These are memes absolute table stakes, IMO.

Mike Nellis@mikenellis.bsky.social

I won't support a single 2028 presidential candidate unless I truly believe they'll go after the crooks in the Trump administration like no president ever has. We only know a fraction of the corruption and it's already staggering.

People who think this guy has a shot in the primary simply because he has a B / B+ online troll game haven't envisioned what his opponents are going to do to him in debates and on the airwaves... (And that's before we even get into the overall oily vibe/appearance.)

California electeds sold the nation down the river on the Paramount merger in pursuit of guaranteed film production jobs, which is the thing they think people care about the most. If you don't want a repeat of that, kick Bass out of City Hall and make sure Newsom doesn't exceed 3% in South Carolina.

I agree with the premise of this post but also would definitely not mind losing Moskowitz in an otherwise blue tsunami.

1. Trump’s super PAC is blanketing Florida’s 25th District with ads attacking Congressman Jared Moskowitz (D) for trading $1.7 million in stocks since 2023 and failing to report all his trades on time Since 2025, Trump has traded up to $2.87 BILLION in stocks and reported almost all of them late

Yep. We could govern for a decade or more if we could only kick the G-D establishment and their enablers (strategists) out of power in the party.

There's really no good argument against it, especially if Dems take the Senate. A distraction? Futile? As opposed to what, passing bills that you can't get past a veto anyway? Oversight? You get more attention and stronger legal tools with impeachment. Just do the right thing, it's good politics!

emptywheel@emptywheel.bsky.social

I agree with @jvl.bsky.social. Dems would do well to conduct serial impeachments. First Heggy (if he is not convicted in Dec, after he IS impeached in House), then RFK. Then prioritize based on what will either gain support among Senate GOPers OR embarrass them. www.thebulwark.com/p/impeach-th...

Is that good? (Finance guy here. No, it's not good.)
