What an incredible night last night. To see the resistance against populism triumph in two such different countries, in two such different ways.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

I think this is happening. Wow, what a terrible night for some of the worst people in the world.

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

Treatment and prevention for HIV. From being an almost guaranteed death sentence to being completely survivable and unable to transmit it, is incredible!

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Oh God, thought I'd get an aperol at the beach in Barcelona before my flight home. When they asked if I wanted a large I said yes. I did not expect A LITRE. The audible gasp of regret I made when they served me this...

Even by the standards of modern Republican candidates Ramaswamy is a truly vile piece of shit.

These are the fourth US elections I've covered, and the Ohio governors' race has to be ugliest race within the ugliest cycle I've ever seen

Oh my god

As a left-wing politician, not having a prepared answer to this question is almost disqualifying at this point, sorry. It’s obviously going to come up and we now have many examples of good ways to respond to it.

This is very good from Rob Rinder. The comments are a complete binfire, not sure why there are so many horseshoe Greens on a Nazi's site, but there we are.

I think it’s actually really important for the Greens to lose that by-election now, cause if they win it will be used to brush away all objections to what they did today

Just so dispiriting to watch the Greens be corrupted by the same poison that took over Labour. All the same shit: the excuses, the mealy-mouthed justifications, the tortured position statements, the deafening silences. Like a historical reenactment.

I listened to Ed Davey on the Today programme this morning, and frankly, I think he missed the point. The idea that we're keeping the triple lock to help millennials is at best for the birds, and at worst downright insulting. I say that as a millennial.

it saddens me that Taylor Swift has a new song coming out, I think that we, as free people, should be allowed to spend more than 17 minutes at a time without being made to think about Taylor Swift, her last tour lasted for 85 years, can she not rest for a little while longer
