“VSTest is Removing its Newtonsoft.Json Dependency” VSTest is moving to System.Text.Json (and JSONite on .NET Framework) for a leaner, more secure test platform. Most projects are unaffected; edge cases get simple one‑line fixes. 👉 Read: ift.tt/PYIZ0Ny

Published a new tool that lets you record all .NET exceptions system-wide in all processes: github.com/KirillOsenko... dotnet tool update -g beetle It records AllExceptions.beetle, which is like a binlog for exceptions. There's also an MCP that can read and analyze .beetle files.

An unaccounted for part of the economy is how much young people virulently hate AI, despite how aggressively it's being forced on them. They realize it's making their friends dumber and ruining the world and they want nothing to do with it. From the Penn student paper: www.thedp.com/article/2026...

@aspire.dev I am using Aspire 13.1.3 AddJavascriptApp WithEnvironment to set HTTPS_PROXY so npm install can go through our corporate proxy. But this does not seem to work, inspecting the npm install process spawned by dcp reveals it isn’t set. What is the recommended way to do this?

@vscode.dev is there a way to white list/start an extension command through the vscode: uri handler? E.g. we have a custom extension that can be used to analyze development logfiles and I would like to open these logfiles from our internal test results website through a vscode: link

En hier de uitzending, bijna een uur zinvol gesprek, weer eens wat anders dan 7 minuten soundbites! Was de moeite waar om om 5 uur in Hilversum voor te zijn! www.nporadio1.nl/uitzendingen...

MSBuild tip: if you're working with binlogs, set the environment variable MSBuildLogPropertyTracking=15. It enables logging of where each property was initially assigned from during evaluation and lights up more features in the binlog viewer.

Oh how I wish Microsoft would hire you (no matter the price) to simply fix shit in windows. Free reign. "Bruce, we don't want to see you, just the commits, fix stuff. We'll pay whatever you want" It'll be beneficial for all.

Some great charts on #AI from the Wall Street Journal. t.ly/xvvbw "AI products would have to create an additional $650 billion a year, indefinitely, to give investors a reasonable 10% annual return. That’s more than 150% of Apple’s yearly revenue"

Trying to measure coding productivity is, and always will be, a fool's errand. Why? Because I can go for a walk then take a shower and have an idea, then write a single line of code that fixes everything I was working on. Immense productivity, but by most metrics I didn't do anything at all.

AI PRs where the author doesn't have an understanding of the system shift the burden of understanding onto the reviewer. So now it's on the reviewer to gain an understanding of this area to either confirm or refute. The author saved time at the expense of the reviewer.

I am excited for #dotnetconf, I've secured a spot for a talk and will show the best new things in #dotnet test and #mstest. Hope that you join me to see the cool stuff we've been working on throughout the past year. (It is on day 2).

Now that #dotnet code coverage will be coming to #visualstudio professional 2026, is there perhaps also any info on Testcase Impact Analysis ( #TIA) for #azuredevops CI/CD pipelines (as far as I can tell it was never supported for .Net Core?)

Ran into the situation again where updating VS broke incremental builds, because a different compiler version is now being stamped into the embedded PDB, invalidating all caches and resulting in different PE file bytes from identical sources. Glad I invested in the fancy PE parser and differ!

New feature in MSBuild Structured Log Viewer: Target Graph! It parses the preprocessed XML and constructs the target graph where edges are BeforeTargets, DependsOnTargets and AfterTargets.
