I mean, I guess there’s some cheer to be gotten from Trump’s most ardent supporters like Julie Burchill in the Spectator admitting they were wrong about Trump. 🧵

For Julie, Trump upsetting the right people was enough. I do not believe for a second the video shocked her. How could it at this point? People are looking for any excuse to part ways with him now. Expect more Damascene conversations in the months ahead. Don’t trust a word these people say.

But to most people with eyes and/or ears it’s baffling that anyone would take so long to reach the conclusion we reached 10 years ago. So what pushed Julie over the edge?

It was the AI tiger video, apparently. Not “grab em by the pussy”, not mocking disabled journalists, not January 6th, not supporting Putin, not the Iran war, not raping E Jean Carrol, not allowing a bunch of militarised fascists to roam the streets of the US. This.

Pauline was not wrong.

[RETURN OF THE JEDI] Worse, the bravado is gone from Han Solo; this sad palooka is so callow he seems to have regressed. Leia, older and sleeker now, looks at him affectionately, like an indulgent mother who has learned to live with her son’s dopeyness. (1983)

Fuck you!!! CONFLICT!!!

In the Japanese PC-88 port of Ultima 3: Exodus by Pony Canyon, if you try to Talk/Transact (T key) to an enemy monster, they literally say "FUCK YOU!!" in English. Hilarious, and apparently nobody has discovered or posted about this before online in English or Japanese

I’m quite into the trailer for The Magician’s nephew and looking at an article in the Telegraph my eyebrows furrowed a bit. 🧵

So look. In isolation this is a nothing example. But I see this shit so much. The flattening of all voices into having all equal weight and relevance. An online critic can currently be, say, a writer for the AV Club website. It could be a Russian bot.

All opinions are available online. If you see an article using vague language like this to support culture war bullshit, treat it with suspicion.

So when we’re talking about an “online critic” we’re actually talking about… some rando in the Youtube comments section. I tried to find the quote in the official trailer’s comments section: couldn’t find it. It’s either somewhere else or has been deleted.

Not only will you own nothing, you’ll also not be able to play the things you don’t own. And you’ll be happy? I guess?

This is the answer. Seabrook sweetcorn flavour. A weird idea but they were incredible.

Brannigan's Beef & Mustard crisps. It brings tears to my eyes that they were discontinued, just as the crisps did back when I used to eat them.

This one is a bit crushing. George’s incredible work is in a bunch of films (Freaked, Society) but beyond that he made masks for Slipknot, was a musician and even oversaw a bonkers sort-of-pinball-thing on Playstation with his personality all over it. Really talented dude, I’ll miss him 🫡

A cursory reverse image check shows that the cricket photo is at least four years old. Couldn’t show one from this year of course - the pitch would just be a layer of parched brown kindling as far as the eye can see. www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2022...

It’s time we sorted out the press. Constant misinformation to protect their donors and fossil fuels is destroying lives and our planet. The Government must step up and stop being cowardly.

This blog was written by the guy who edited Graham Linehan's memoir who is simply flabbergasted to find that the bulk of his "gender critical" allies support a racist bookshop in his locality, and yet, cannot find the obvious conclusion: the GC movement is bigoted. 1/ kaygreen.blog/2026/08/09/t...
