Was just reminded of this a moment ago. No clue why... "I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate.

who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.” Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to “order” than to justice;

"Pay no attention to him, Bill. A man loses two hundred-fifty dollars on the slots, and he thinks it gives him wisdom. Biggest mistakes I ever made were in listening to guys like that, instead of listening to my own heart… what my granddad used to call ‘The Tyranny of Reasonable Voices.’

Mistakes you make can always be worked out. The mistakes you don’t make because you do nothing, because you don’t try, you don’t risk, those are the ones that haunt you when you get old. Regret, that’s the real killer. Go where your heart leads you, Bill.

Wandering around downtown on my way elsewhere. I’m running early so I wander over to Klyde Warren Park (built on a bridge over one of Dallas’ most annoying highways, okay, that’s all of them) where they’re doing a trick or treat thing for the kids with a free movie (Toy Story 5).

May find myself heading back to East Texas. If so, it will be, must only be temporary. I consider such a choice to be admitting defeat and will lead to down, not across, yes? (More likely, oh, this is granddad's rifle in the closet, but...) Need to get the bike up to speed for use quickly,

All of this, by the way, is so I can get away from trying to find work, running myself down on gig apps, and focus instead on trying to get disability everyone says I should be able to get because of stage 4 renal cancer. I've already been sent in circles applying, which is why I gave up.

as I've had too many physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive bosses over the years, not counting those who were criminally ignorant and proud of it. First ignorant boss and I doubt I can hold back. First abusive boss and I'm sure I'll sit overnight in the Smith County Jail.

Here's a petition to save the Granada on Lower Greenville in Dallas. Will it work? I don't know. We must try. If it only convinces the city to preserve it as a historical site, it will be worth it. I saw many movies there. My tradition of The Life of Bryan began there.

As I browsed Half Price Books, I noticed a copy Enter the Lion Hodel & Wright in science fiction. Hodel? Mike Hodel? Hour 25 Hodel? Yes, and yes, he collaborated on a Sherlock Holmes novel published by Playboy. It was just a couple of bucks, so I bought it.

Several weeks later as I browsed in mystery, I noticed Exit Sherlock Holmes by Robert Lee Hall, also published by Playboy. I know Playboy published books for a while. How many Sherlock pastiches did Hefner cut a check for? I would really love to get my hands on a list of Playboy publications
