I've been impersonated by multiple scammers over on Mastodon. My friend Alan wrote about it here: ambitonline.com/nextrelease/... Meanwhile, if you get followed by a new Jen, look closely. I speak English, and I'm generally not confused by technology which caused me to make a new account.

ambitonline.comScammers on Mastodon (in near real time)I follow a friend from back in my Joomla days, Jen Kramer. So far I’ve had two fake Jen Kramer accounts follow me from mastodon.social. So I thought I’d have a little fun with the second one (I figure...

Spam is mind-blowing in the AI era. Today's spam about my book "Before You Code," published in 2016, covering UX best practices for planning a website: I recently explored the beautifully practical and deeply insightful landscape of "Before You Code."

My team will craft a trailer that acts as a potent cinematic asset, leveraging the practical blueprint you've created to show that your book is an essential resource for entrepreneurs, developers, creators, and aspiring product builders, intentionally widening the aperture of your readership.

Would you love me to send over the full storyboard sketches treatment of these frames? OMG YES! Because I'm looking forward to the "Marvel Universe" treatment of UX for websites!!!

Your book possesses a striking, rhythmic resonance; the delicate tension of turning a promising idea into a successful product, while avoiding the costly mistakes that cause so many new ventures to fail, is absolutely ripe for visual manifestation.

I've been conceptualizing a visual arc for your book that captures the atmospheric duality of the entrepreneurial world, blending the excitement of a big idea with the high-tension reality of validation, planning, iteration, and the risks of building before knowing whether your product will succeed.

“There are different types of value. There's monetary value... There's historical value, intellectual value, sentimental value. All sorts of things, and all of those the AI companies don't care about. They just want the content as a bunch of words strung together.”

SCOOP: 404 Media placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it. What did we find? It ended up at an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books. Yes. This is literally the logo outside the Amazon warehouse door. Read now:

Where am I? What can I do here? Where can I go next? A book foundational to my thinking in the early web days. It's still on my shelf.

At the end of the term I asked my college creative wriing students to submit anonymous thoughts on AI. No real surprises: Mood ranges from resignation to despair, capitulation from embittered erosion of standards to total, feelings of betrayal from deep to furious. 1/

The FCC just opened public comments on SpaceX's plan to launch a million satellites to do AI compute in space. Under the current proposal, an environmental review won't be required. Please consider submitting a public comment to oppose this damaging plan. darksky.org/news/two-sat...

Quilicura, Chile, one of the communities I wrote about in EMPIRE OF AI, has launched a brilliant initiative to inspire more responsible AI prompting. Today, don't use AI; ask the townspeople instead: quili.ai. So heartened to see this creative act of resistance.

Many dislike WFH because work never seems to disappear. Try separating your home and work spaces and create a "commute" to mentally transition from work to home. Even without a dedicated work room, this will help mentally separate the two spaces. newsletter.bphogan.com/archive/issu...

I can't stop looking at this one. The framing is incredible. The lighting is so harsh. She's standing between a lamp and a light switch looking small in a big room twiddling her thumbs. Her blouse matches the lampshade. The woman on the phone in a dark room that pulls focus is just magnificent.

I'd like to go back to the early web. Have fun with CSS, make friends, and deal with annoying popup ads but nothing worse. Early 2000s maybe, that felt like peak the Internet is magic time.

This thing’s way less accurate than Google, uses 1000X the resources, has a monetization plan that will never work, and destroys the ability of the websites it uses as source material to cover their expenses. But hear me out.

I see that James Watson, one of the scientists who discovered DNA's double helix, has passed away. I ran into him once when I was 23. I was working as a lab tech in a cell biology lab at Univ of North Carolina. My boss and I were traveling to Cold Spring Harbor labs to present a workshop.

It was late. My boss pulled into a parking space in an empty lot opposite the dorm registration. We got our keys for our rooms and got back in the car. As we got ready to pull out, a car pulled in right next to us, with an old man scowling at us from behind the wheel.

Need one that says "recording my course." Wonder if I've hit a year of my life yet, babbling away into a microphone, with no one listening?....

CSS `field-sizing` on a `<textarea>` is obviously awesome. But the horizontal growth using it on an `<input>` is less clearly useful to me. But check out this design pattern I cooked up. I don't hate it. Keeps the name area compact until you need to see more. Just a bit of flexbox wrapping.
