We did it. We finally found the limits on executive power. 🤡

Q: "What is stopping the administration from just...putting out what is appropriate [on Epstein]?" Leavitt: "Those are questions for the DOJ...That's out of the president's control."

“Why’s the media so obsessed with the kids who died?”

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Cornyn highlights the people who didn't die in the Texas floods: "It's a very sad time, but it's also a time when 850+ campers were accounted for and recovered ... this was a 100 year flood event ... it's just a time of very many conflicting feelings."

Partyka: My son, like so many people on Medicaid, works over 40 hours a week. People on Medicaid are not the “parasite class,” as this horrible, out-of-touch administration has described them. They are your friends and your neighbors—and in this case, he is my son.

Dave McCormick just cast the deciding vote for this BS bill that raises costs of health care, food and utilities, and leaves Pennsylvanians to die. The bill now goes to the House where PA’s GOP delegation will decide its fate. Call and let them know how you feel at 202-224-3121.

Dwight Evans is one of the people I will tell my children I was lucky to have served with and learned from. His impact was felt in all corners of our state and now he’s letting new leadership step forward. Congratulations Dwight on a career for the history books.

Van Hollen: "The real problem is Republicans refuse to ask billionaires to contribute more to the overall good of the country ... they have an obsession with giving tax cuts to very rich people and big corporations and everything else is sacrificed for that cause."

I’d also just ask Pennsylvania’s senator to prioritize the best interest of Pennsylvanians, instead of warmongering leaders of other nations.

Senator John Fetterman was snidely dismissive of Dems who say Trump bombing Iran without congressional authorization is potentially an impeachable offense. Here's Rep @casten.house.gov responding to Fetterman on our pod with a very pointed challenge to him: newrepublic.com/article/1971...

Republicans: “No one wants to work any more.” “What about these immigrants who want to work?” Republicans: “Not them. Send them to a gulag.”

ICE targeted immigrant workers this week in the Harrisburg area (below at a gas station in New Cumberland). You can see these men are in work clothes and boots. Immigrants of all status contribute so much to our economy in Central PA. Republicans are putting cruelty ahead of our communities.

There is literally no modern or even recent historical example where the “start a war to force regime change to then make a country better for the civilians” works. It’s insanity. Reality is it will make their lives worse. It is a lie meant to justify war for other reasons.

As the June 30 state budget deadline draws closer, it’s not just SEPTA facing a fiscal cliff. The other 32 fixed-route transit systems across the commonwealth are at risk — which means the Pennsylvania Senate Republicans blocking funding will hurt their own districts, too.

inquirer.comNot just SEPTA: Public transit is in trouble all across Pennsylvania, including in GOP districts.SEPTA isn’t the only mass transit agency in Pennsylvania that’s hurting. Meet the 32 others.

FYI the Senate Finance Committee text that just dropped leaves this provision untouched. They are choosing to spike costs for more than a million Medicare enrollees.

Andrea Ducas@andreaducas.bsky.social

What would this bill mean for *Medicare* enrollees? In spite of Trump's promises not to touch the program, here's what 1.3 MILLION people on Medicare can expect:

Even bigger tax breaks for greedy corporations while raising overall costs for workers and families. Insane.

From reconciliation to deportation, the Republican agenda is toxic.

Trump's tariffs are one of the largest tax increases in history.

Andrew Watt@andrewwatteu.bsky.social

Update bsky.app/profile/tren... US tariff revenue hits USD 22.2 billion in May. Not to be sniffed at given the state of US public finances and, more importantly, Trump's desire/promise to cut taxes for the rich. Hence my prediction 👆: tariffs ain't going back to near zero. inflation⬆️ growth⬇️ Fed ➡️

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

You looked beautiful, Pennsylvania.

There are 81+ events today in Pennsylvania to protest Trump’s terror and the GOP’s agenda in DC. It is one of the biggest statewide activations ever. It is bigger than any Tea Party single day of action by far. The opposition to right-wing rule in DC is big, beautiful and diverse.

By 11 am, several hundred people were gathered in LOVE Park, including an Elvis impersonator and a man in colonial garb carrying a sign that read “Philly bows to nobody.” Protestors awaiting the noon rally sang karaoke to songs like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” next to the LOVE sculpture.

It also has been planned for months but happens to occur at the moment where Trump is looking tyrant-y of his term so far while also throwing his own royal-esque birthday military parade. Incredibly effective and huge opposition optics at an important moment for them.

Chase Woodruff@chasewoodruff.bsky.social

“No Kings” is one of the sharpest bits of political branding/rhetoric in a while. Extremely concise and in every headline, historically rooted, specific to the American tradition but also universalist, nails what’s exceptional about Trump in a way that almost all factions in opposition can endorse.

It's vital to emphasize that the GOP has been calling for violence against their political opponents for more than a decade now, led by Trump. The violence keeps escalating, and they keep doing it because they're getting results.
