Last PebbleOS update for Pebble 2 Duo boosted battery life by almost a week. Median battery life is now 26 days! FYI this only counts devices that are connected by Bluetooth to Pebble mobile app, and have analytics enabled. More improvements for PT2 in the works!

Okay, so obviously this is very dumb, but for an explanation of why: The "rules being eased" is really "unwinding the phase-out of HFC refrigerants." HFCs are responsible for the extremely high global warming potential of refrigerants, and our previous saner government was working to fix this 1/x

I finally got my new watch from @repebble.com! It's the watch I've been waiting 14 years for! And, seriously, it's probably the first gadget in that time I've actually been excited for, and in the hand it's exactly what I hoped it would be. Everyone involved: well done, you delivered.

Finding out via @techconnectify.bsky.social that Pebble watches are coming back, as my 6 year old Fitbit sense is on its last battery leg, has been the best tech related news I can think of in recent years. I miss when new tech made me excited and not depressed.

One hopes images like this, when paired with the knowledge that everything we burn ends up in that tiny slice of gasses, would help contextualize why we need to move away from energy sources we set on fire. One hopes. Climate communicators should make some hay of this.

I don't remember seeing an image of Earth before that captures the (thin, fragile, tiny layer of) atmosphere so clearly. I mean, look at that.

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain. Donald Trump and his regime have committed at least 20 of those same offenses highlighted in yellow. #NoKings

This would be incredibly easy to foresee for everyone who managed to realize what fuel is and that renewable technologies do not require fuel to operate but y'know thinking isn't popular these days.

Jan Rosenow@janrosenow.bsky.social

Spain's renewables build-out has structurally decoupled its electricity prices from gas markets. Gas now sets the price in only 15% of hours, compared to 90% in Italy. Countries that invested early in clean power are far less exposed to fossil fuel price shocks. Those that didn't now pay the price.

my girlfriend wants to try BusGoodCarBad, so I took the deranged move & bought a dead Pebble for 20 bucks. listen, i know it’s dweeb shit. but soldering in a battery and seeing a watch power on for the first time in a decade & being able to install applets *i* developed is an intoxicating feeling.

The Republicans have been crying all day after that THRASHING I gave them on Jubilee. These people know nothing about the economy, or really anything for that matter. TIME TO CRUSH THEM IN NOVEMBER. BELT TO 🍑!!!

I was on a flight without internet back from HKG on Saturday. After we landed, the woman next to me 'they shot another person in Minneapolis'. My heart sank... These horrific events prompted me to post my thoughts as a Canadian in the US right now. ericmigi.com/blog/on-bein...

It really is just all kinds of bad folks. I wonder when Democrats in Congress will notice. No reforming this.

@seancasten.bsky.social I want you to know this is something your constituent (me) genuinely thinks the democratic party leadership would do, all the while deluding themselves into thinking we'll be thrilled about it. This is where I'm at. I need you to start saying things to people.

Brendon@3662brendon.bsky.social

Democrats could probably get a law passed saying that verified troops with at least 4 years service and a national guard commitment must have their constitutional rights respected, or at least could require any violators take a 6-week paid training course on Troop Respect.

This really is the test of this moment and I think it's time we speak with clarity and demand our leaders do the same.

Technology Connections@techconnectify.bsky.social

There's hardly a meaningful distinction between ICE and the Gestapo at this point and we might as well confront that. No reforming an institution which became the gestapo. It must be destroyed.

Look, I was a little kid when we went through this last and I just wanted it to live in my mind as a horrible thing some evil reactionary adults did when I was growing up. I was fine with that simple understanding! I did NOT ask to experience a re-enactment as an adult.

I don't love that the future of this country hinges on a large enough majority of the population both realizing and recognizing that these chucklefucks get riled up over the dumbest stuff they've read online somewhere... but that does seem to be where we're at.

Smith: He was getting calls from people he trusts, people he relies on—and he still refused to come to the aid of the people at the Capitol. That’s very important evidence for criminal intent in our case.

Since we have an apple app again, my #Pebble Time Kickstarter Edition has become my daily watch again. It doesn’t integrate the sleep tracking as well as it did when I was using #Rebble but hopefully we’ll get there. I got 6 1/2 days on my last charge before it hit 20%. Not bad for a decade old.
