corporate media routinely describes Tim Scott as a moderate and celebrates his "relentless optimism"

The pungent spread could distract police dogs trained to sniff out contraband and could also be used by prisoners to brew alcohol.

An Australian man serving a life sentence for murder lost his legal effort to be able to eat Vegemite behind bars when a state supreme court on Monday upheld a prison ban on the country’s beloved spread.

It should matter more that there is so much evidence that POTUS is a rapist, including of children. I still am appalled at this country for voting him TWICE. The guy is no Grover Cleveland.

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

"The Democratic Party should, and likely will, win big in the midterms. We must not send the worst anti-trans voices to join them." The Senate might turn on one or two races.

Some on the original list --of the "may wish to avoids" - were not the "worst" cases that get the most attention. Must-win Dems were. I can see abolitionists in 1860 putting Abraham Lincoln on the list, citing his "the South doesn't have anything to worry about from me" statements.

If strong activist voices are willing to threaten REDUCING the size of the House Democratic majority (which one poll put in the 220s), fine, but it gets harder if the odds are that we might have a 52-48 Senate (or even 51-49), one way or the other.

Around 175 House Dems just called on Trump's DOJ and DHS to end "weaponization of law enforcement" against Rep Ilhan Omar. The letter is signed by numerous ranking committee Dems, showing depth of support for Omar in leadership and signaling how Dem House will act. newrepublic.com/article/2171...

An independent running made some horrible remarks about trans people. He also said he wouldn't support Schumer for Majority Leader. I flagged that and received no response. Can the "I'm not going to vote for the Dems" brigade also recognize the median position of both parties, too?

Supermajority rule might not be enough at the moment given a 6-3 #SCOTUS but it's an interesting idea. Toss in things like qualified immunity & streamlined congressional response to statutory cases with dubious results. Congress can overturn certain opinions by simple legislation.

Daphna Renan@daphnarenan.bsky.social

This is an important legislative agenda: -term limits -regularizing appointments -ethics reform -shadow docket reform & -a supermajority rule before the Court can invalidate acts of Congress. These are all basic measures to rebuild a more democratic constitutionalism and a more legitimate Court.

I am so, so happy for him. Rooting for Francisco Lindor and wearing his jersey is a pleasure that I do not take for granted. I thought that there would never be a player as special to me as a Mets fan as David Wright, but I was wrong. Francisco Lindor is the best. An absolute gem.

MLB@mlbbot.bsky.social

Congratulations to Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets, winner of the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award presented by Capital One! 👏

I worried that "Seattle is doing Seattle" after they screwed up at the end of the half (again), but KC (not Houston) didn't get the long FG & ultimately lost the game. #NFL Green Bay won the "we really really wanted to lose this game" award yesterday. Jets/Titans found a way to lose. Normal.

Figured the Dolphins would win at least one of the Jets' games. They wouldn't go 0-17. They got that out of the way. Jets did so much wrong that the SNY crew went on and on without (before I shut it off) talking about how they left seven points (screw-up at the goal line/missed FG) off the board.

It's simply appalling. Trump/Russia was known about for ten years. The rest is just details. Quite important, sure, but it was blatantly disqualifying. And he was elected twice anyways.

I hate that various swing Dems and independents are being anti-trans (one said there are "two genders"), and trans people (and others) calling them out is correct. It is still better to have Democratic control & I don't think the bigoted tail will wag the dog if that happens. Pushing helps.

Part of what's happening here is the metastasizing of the Access Hollywood strategy--never apologise, never back down. And there is something to this: public morality is heavily influenced by individuals having a sense of shame. If you *act* like you did something wrong, people believe you have.

I understand trans people being upset at some of the comments by Democratic or Democratic leaning candidates, but we don't have instant run-off voting. A Republican controlled Senate under Trump is dangerous. Two more years of Republican control is dangerous.

I'm not going to insert myself in the threads. A parent of a trans child got pushback but has cred to do so. I'm just saying. It isn't a new phenomenon, covering a range of topics and groups.
