The recent ELCA report is a great reminder about the economic costs of climate change. There are various recommendations in the report, & one is very aligned with our campaign to see Australia buy a publicly owned fleet of large firefighting aircraft. www.foe.org.au/lat_petition...

As someone who covered Robodebt in part, it's clear nothing has really changed. Worse: the politics of federal Labor on social security are baffling. We keep hearing about how people have "lost trust in institutions". Wiping these debts seem a simple answer to help. Instead, they rewrote the rules.

that's a thing that always fascinates me with people proposing real name policies. The number of people who already post the most heinous shit imaginable under their full names *should already show us that these policies won't work*, even before we get to the safety and privacy problems.

What has happened to Helen Haines today is awful. She’s a personal hero and champion of her electorate. Simply one of the kindest and smartest MPs. No one doing their job engaging with their constituents in public should have to face violence.

Went to the October 17 protest in Paris today. Lot of anger, especially about the police actions over previous weeks where students lost hands / an eye. This was at Republique.

The Australian attacks the Bureau of Meteorology…for data a century or so old … what a relief that we don’t have to worry about climate change… (handy, too, to undermine the coming State of the Climate, and the mass of record temperatures in Australia and abroad)..

David Shoebridge scolds Labor, LNP & One Nation saying it’s a “disgrace” they’re voting against Thorpe’s bill to ban shackling of women who are giving birth in custody. “Ask yourself what you would have thought, if you…your partner…your daughter was shackled to the bed.”💥

New website to calculate the real world cost of coal, oil and gas projects. carbonimpactstracer.com E.g., the impact of the Woodside NW Shelf Project extension means an extra 126 people will die form heat stress in Europe alone (but could be as high as 800). Sorry about that, but you know, money.

The Brit establishment have lost their collective minds.

This is an example of thinning, aka eco-thinning, being undertaken at Redcastle-Graytown State Forest on the flimsiest of science. Funded by millions of your dollars from the federal government. We think the logs will be left for firewood collection.

What a lucky day. I saw the most amazing Aussie reptile while out in the bush yesterday. Surprisingly this Thorny Devil was in a highly cleared and fragmented agricultural region, giving further importance to retaining and managing native vegetation remnants.
