@pearswick.press Hi. I didn't care for your Banksy article. I think it is incredibly reckless and inconsiderate to doxx any artist that wants to be anonymous. It puts societal pressure on them to conform when they've already made the decision to duck that pressure. Why do you think you know better?

The article cites property damage and unequal treatment by police, as if these are good justifications for doxxing someone. Banksy has an org. Courts exist. Equal treatment protection laws exist. The rest is worked out amongst the relevant parties. Again, why do you know better? What are we missing?

Here's an idea: raise the minimum salary for H1-Bs to align with the average for that position in that workplace's geographic area. After all, isn't the premise that these hires are necessary because no one in the US can possibly do the job?

@pkrugman.bsky.social Post-election, do you still feel you had the right vision of the economy? How do you balance being technically right with people whose view of the economy ends at the price of food, housing, and, to some extent, gas, which I found notoriously absent from inflation views?

The fact that this wasn’t a rule before now is insane to me. I can’t imagine all the unknown harm that has been done thus far. Tons of scummy stuff that will never be known. Reckless.

Airbnb is prohibiting the use of indoor security cameras in its listings globally, the vacation homestay rental company announced on Monday. The decision comes after many reports of hidden cameras over the years.

Nerds are the ones who warned you about cryptocurrency, and NFTs, and the internet of things. Nerds are the ones trying to explain to you that "AI" is just overhyped pattern recognition which we already had for years. Techbros are not nerds. They're predators.

Jon Stewart, Mark Twain Prize winner: You know how everyone thinks Biden is old? Here's a segment that proves Trump is just as bad, positioning Biden and Trump on equal ground in terms of age and thus helping the left with an electoral issue. The center-left: I guess Jon is a nazi now. Huh. Wow.

Hear me out: We make Trump President of the WWE. He’d never know the difference. “Truths” live into the big screen. Occasionally walks out to “Born in the USA” and gives a center-ring stump speech insulting the wrestlers who he thinks are running against him. Sometimes takes a chair to the face.

A federal appeals court rejected Donald Trump’s claim that he was immune to charges of plotting to subvert the results of the 2020 election. The New York Times annotated the ruling.

If you've ever wondered why the Electoral College still exists, takes like this are exactly why. @mtsw.bsky.social believes only conservatives live in rural states and those people do not deserve government services. Why? Because they vote Republican. It's an ignorant, elitist, and naive take. 🧵 1/9

and then offers things to the OTHER base. one of the few things the dems wont shut up about is how they want to spend billions on subsidies to pay for high speed internet connections for ingrate rural areas that never vote for them

If they're under-privileged and conservative but live uban should we deny them, since they're hampering social progress, just unsuccessfully? If they're underprivileged and even more left of @mtsw.bsky.social, do those people deserve services or not? After all, helping them won't help you! etc. 8/9

If you want people in rural areas, whose viewpoints you don't agree with, to come around, you have to meaningfully reach out to them. That's what the Democrat strategy is here. Keep demonstrating why social services matter by delivering them to places in need. It's smart politics. 9/9

When it comes to the prospect of federal broadband, if it even can be implemented in terms of infrastructure, the benefits are vast. Equal access to educational resources, job opportunities, telemedicine, and other essential services. Economic development. Agricultural technology. 6/9

Increased innovation. National. Fucking. Progress. And, yet, @mtsw.bsky.social would say that we just don't get anything out of it. How is this a different argument for the homeless or drug-addicted? Do all the under-privileged deserve nothing or only the conservative under-privileged? 7/9

To say that broadband is more expensive to run and therefore these rural folks shouldn't get it is to ignore the countless government services that bloat in urban areas: homelessness, transportation, environmental conservation, waste management, public safety, public health services, education- 4/9

services, and on and on and on. Rural people do contribute money/economy to the government and the government does in turn use that to pay for urban issues. The only other way to look at it is anti-democratic. Every community for itself? What is the purpose of government? 5/9

That said, what we're looking at here is horseshoe theory in the wild. Who else says they shouldn't pay for gov services they don't (think they) get something out of? Libertarians. It's a classist argument that strikes at the underprivileged--who exist in both rural and urban settings alike. 3/9

Over-under on SCOTUS saying, “Since it failed, it wasn’t an insurrection” ?
