In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Three Yale professors who have written extensively on authoritarianism are leaving the U.S. “We’re like people on the Titanic saying our ship can’t sink,” Marci Shore said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”

The richest 0.1% of Americans control $22 trillion in wealth. The bottom 50% control $3.8 trillion in wealth. Read that back. Folks, this is what oligarchy looks like.

There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:

More money from the Biden Administration is in peril to communities that urgently need help. The Trump Administration calls this project wasteful and it’s in peril of being cancelled. This is the Trump Administration “war on Alaska.” #akgov #akleg

Predating statehood, the Carrs on Gambell is the first Carrs in Alaska. It's my grocery store and pharmacy. It's where I see neighbors and catch up with friends. I ❤️ the People's Carrs. I am devastated by the news of its impending closure and the impact it will have on the community I love.

The push back on this should be, what was the ruckus? Because so far what I've heard is that Ozturk wrote an op-ed in a student newspaper, that is it. The fact that the government can just swoop in and take someone should be extremely alarming to all.

A friend drove two hours today for her breast cancer chemotherapy only to learn it was canceled due to NIH cuts. Clinical trial ended midstream. No treatment, no restart, no plan, no information. Her bro-in-law's chemo was also canceled.
