I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

Ukraine was invaded by Russia in 2014, and has seen 20% of its territory occupied, while Russia bombs civilian targets nightly. Anything Ukraine does in response is defensive. If Musk tries to claim otherwise, he is a homicidal liar.

Trump seems to have succeeded at breaking mail-in voting.

ProPublica@propublica.org

Three days after the August primary, election workers in one Washington county went to check for late mail-in ballots. They expected no more than a few dozen. Instead, there were more than 500 — each a vote that wouldn’t count.

Klimt’s Two Girls with an Oleander (1890) uses dense floral patterning to frame what feels like a private moment. The painting appears transitional, moving away from academic narrative toward the lush, decorative language of his later Secession works.

Giving criminal immunity to the person with unfettered pardon power is a recipe for criminal government. And that's exactly what has happened.

Hamilton Nolan: the greatest threat to our democracy today is huge pools of accumulated capital in private hands. People like Bernie Sanders talk about the oligarchy... but people need to understand that breaking up these enormous fortunes is critical to us maintaining a democratic government.

The indictment of Floris and Benavides is entitled to no presumption of regularity. After it has been dismissed, it will be important to learn what falsehoods and misrepresentations were made to the grand jury to secure it. The most likely outcome of this case is the disbarment of Jeanine Pirro.

Renoir painted nudes, Monet didn’t. His wife Alice said she’d kick him out if he brought models home. So instead, he painted his stepdaughters—especially Suzanne, who posed for Woman with a Parasol. Sometimes family drama shapes art history.

Remember: Wealth cannot be separated from power. We're seeing in real time how the extreme concentration of wealth is distorting our politics, rigging markets, and granting unprecedented power to a handful of people. Taxing the rich isn't just an economic issue, it's a defense of our democracy.

NEW from me: Democrats could win in November. And if they do, and they take on the Trump administration’s vast corruption as promised, they will be squaring off with a wildly obstructionist Justice Department. So how can they outsmart the cronies at DoJ? I take a look for @huffpost.com.

There will be a major tendency among pundits to downplay GOP gerrymandering when Democrats flip the House and the GOP fails to flip some of its mid-decade remap targets, but the pre-2026 baseline was still very gerrymandered. Even in a wave, the national map could cost Dems two dozen seats or more

This very revealing. As framed by Trump, this is a she said/she said dispute, so he will decide who’s the truth teller and yell over anyone who disagrees—Paradigm of Trump creating reality convenient for him, damn the consequences.
