I love that I can tell my 19 year old kiddo that there's a praying mantis in the garden and he'll excitedly come out in pajamas to look.

Wicker was a lot of fun. Although my usual theater wasn't showing it and I had to hunt down one that was. When picking seats online, the ones already taken were replaced with little basket icons instead of being greyed out. 😂

Maybe not as big as some of the other stuff posted, but FIP in cats used to be a 100%death sentence. The treatment available now is amazing and just getting more accessible and affordable all the time.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

go to your camera and search "boat" and post the one you like I think this was Monterey. The boat was incidental, the focus is of course the nesting seagull.

I would take more seriously the people promoting the idea of AI consciousness if they first materially grappled with the (much more obvious) consciousness of animals and how that affects our moral obligations to them.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Please remember that for every VE Schwab and Stephen King, there are a lot of banned Black, queer, and POC writers you've never heard of, to whom it is maybe not a badge of honor but a denial of their voice. Being banned is not a marketing opportunity, unless one is already rich.

It's Banned Books Week. Please read widely and bravely.

My manager puts out a little monthly activity for us, which is great. But she likes AI which is less so. I don't think it knows what a pumpkin is.

This was a really fun read. Highly recommend.

Today is the last day (I think) to get the e-book of SLAYERS OF OLD for $3.99. Magic house and tentacled cat and baked goods and retired heroes saving the world one last time. bookshop.org/a/25009/9780... 💙📚🪐

We've gotten these since. . . well many years now. I don't actually remember how long. Frogs, eels, crabs, squid. . . am I forgetting one? Anyway, my kiddos are in college now, but still want their holiday creature facts!

I want you to think about the kids in your life. Maybe those kids are 8. Maybe they are 32. Do they know enough about snails? Hard to imagine anyone truly knowing *enough* about snails. Help those kids learn snailhood. Get them a Snail Facts advent calendar. SquidFacts.net.

Were you a child who read The World Book Encyclopedia for fun?

Husband got me a bird feeder with a camera for my birthday. Got my first visitor a few days later. Now he's here regularly. House finch I'm pretty sure?

Discovered California Towhee nesting in my rose bushes. Now I am anxiously awaiting a baby sighting. I try not to get close except when I have to water because the parents get cross with me.

What I keep noticing in all these type photos of the fair: there are no kids. Every county or state fair I've ever been to was lousy with kids. It's weird.

TMZ DC with perhaps the most brutal video from Trump's Great American State Fair, showing Dr. Oz on stage bragging to Dean Cain about how big the crowd is, only for the reporter to pan around and show absolutely nobody is there. Original post: x.com/i/status/207...

This is obviously silly reasoning, but I might instead argue that the rise of people believing nonsense is strongly correlated to Myth Busters ending.
