As far as I can tell, literally every article on this quotes the same "expert" — a former estranged father who has an entire blog dedicated to absolving parents of any responsibility. He also sells $995 "consultations" where he will blame your kids for cutting you off.

this is reminiscent of the moral panic against trans youth, which started out on blogs for parents who didn't want to believe their own kids were trans. some of those parents went on to write books, create organizations, & position themselves "experts" on the issue

you rarely meet the rabid terf archetype. it does in fact drive you mental that institutional transphobia is done quietly, passively and in a way that insists this is actually for your own benefit. fuck you.

i know with absolute certainty that the day the big transphobia gets me at work it'll come via a cis woman in HR with she/her in her email signature, who will send me a link to wellbeing resources whilst insisting she is doing transphobia respectfully, in a way that ensures my dignity and safety.

The only reason folks are talking about the French uprisings, ongoing for over a month, is because they escalated to rioting. The idea that that rioting and property destruction are bad for movement perception is just false, even if your goal is something as impoverished as media attention

Reminder: during the most riotous parts of the George Floyd Uprising the movement was at its most popular, with the destroying of the 3rd precinct polling much higher than either presidential candidate, and it was only after months and years of revision that ppl talk like they werent
