#KnowYourZDM: Humans and #zebrafish carrying mutations in VEGFC or its receptor (FLT4) have defects in the formation of their lymphatic systems, which are important for draining lymph back into the circulation system.  As a result, these individuals display severe #lymphedema. 🧪

Happy to see our work, led by @ivanbassi.bsky.social, out today in @jem.org! #Zebrafish help us find new treatments for a #rare_disease affecting #lymphatic vessels! Congrats to all authors and thanks to #MDBRide4Rare, #ODC_UPenn, @erc.europa.eu for support @weizmanninstitute.bsky.social

Looking forward to joining this #Gordon in #Newport and dive back into this exciting #Vascular #Biology field (and see many friendly faces) Thanks @karinayaniv.bsky.social & A.Eichmann for the invitation 😱 When you realize that your #ESTA isn't valid anymore...the night before flying out... 🤞

📣Join us for the DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY COURSE @institutcurie.bsky.social @sorbonne-universite.fr We have fantastic speakers and registration is free! training.institut-curie.org/courses/deve... @karinayaniv.bsky.social @doetschlab.bsky.social @eileen-furlong.bsky.social @jesseveenvliet.bsky.social

Thanks to all our dear friends for the warm words and offers to help. Weizmann was hit by a missile last night- a devastating nightmare 😭. Thank God no one is hurt, but there’s significant damage to many labs. I’m stuck abroad, waiting desperately to be able to go home to my family and my lab 🙏

#GRC_Angiogenesis is approaching and we don't want anyone left out due to the current situation! We are actively raising funds to help our American friends and colleagues affected by budget freezes. Reach out to me ASAP if you need help! Let's ensure that politics doesn't get in the way of science!

For all zebrafish folks - seems like there is finally a good/better zebrafish annotation! Check it out - and thanks to Shawn and his team for putting this together!

Shawn Burgess @burgesslab.bsky.social

Some exciting news! NCBI has finished the annotation pipeline for our new #zebrafish reference sequence GRCz12tu: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/refseq/annot... This is a big step up in data depth and quality and should be super helpful going forward.

On Friday in Jerusalem something incredible happened. Thousands of us — Jews and Palestinians — stood together in Jerusalem for the People’s Peace Summit, united by something powerful: a refusal to give in to hopelessness, a refusal to let Netanyahu’s war continue. (1/3)

Another beautiful work from our lab at @weizmanninstitute.bsky.social led by super super-talented student @pina85.bsky.social and co-supervised by Rudra Das and me! So proud of Pina, who worked so hard under the very tough circumstances in Israel, to bring this paper to life! 🌟 All details 👇!

Amazing work from Hans Schoofs and colleagues in Taija Makinen lab. Also a good example how intravital imaging of cellular mosaics can be very informative.
