Games are made by people and game studios are made of people but game studios are also made of institutional knowledge, continuity, practices, standards, technology, resources, and IP. And those things do mean something, and it is a loss when they're discarded.

it cannot actually be ignored or danced around that the closure of BioWare came so soon after the Saudi and Jared Kushner acquisition of EA. they absolutely did take the studio making EA’s broadly queerest games out back and shoot it old yeller style. do not let yourself or colleagues ignore that

I am completely gutted. BioWare’s games were the reason behind so many of today’s game writers and narrative designers. BioWare’s absence leaves a huge hole in our industry and I don’t know when it’ll ever be filled

Consolidation is killing our industry. The Gamergaters who make money off the rage game will have you think this is a victory. This is purely a loss. A loss of work and art and fun and expression in a space that desperately needs it. Massive fucking bummer.
