This is why I always laugh when people try to tell me that Republicans are "fiscally responsible".

Brendan Duke@brendanvduke.bsky.social

Instead, policymakers enacted temporary tax cuts under Bush, made them permanent under Obama, enacted temporary tax cuts under Trump 1, and then made them permanent/enacted new temporary tax cuts under Trump 2. If we hadn’t cut taxes, debt would be lower and stable.

Remember the GOP outrage when Hillary tried to do health care?

Net 30% approval still probably means 50+% of white male voters. Ponder that.

New Pew poll has Trump's approval at 30% (!) 68% of the country disapproves of him. Lowest in his second term, at January 6 levels. *31%* of Trump 2024 voters now disapprove of him.

When Joe Biden took office, America’s allies were willing to treat the first Trump term as an aberration. That ship has sailed. The world is no longer waiting for us to come to our senses, and the trust we squandered may take a generation to rebuild if anyone still believes we are capable of it.

Poll indicates that large numbers of voters are dumb motherfuckers who voted for Donald Trump while living in the best post-pandemic economic recovery in the world and now have to admit that Trump fucked it all up. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/2026-09-25...

There's plenty of corruption, crimes against humanity, and downright evil shit to focus on, but every so often it strikes me how thoroughly we USians have been exposed and disgraced on the world stage. A country who can elect such a man—twice!—is not a worthy country. We need radical reformation.

I really hope Americans learn the lesson that all Republican presidents WILL get our country into expensive, pointless wars. It is what Republicans do. It is one of the few things that punches through their incompetence: the desire to blow some shit up. That and racism is all they understand.

Exactly this. Stop accepting their bad faith framing of an issue!

Luke O'Neil@lukeoneil47.bsky.social

I know this is not going to fix anything, but how much media coverage and how much groundswell of excitement from the base do you think would happen if one of these dem candidates just said, once in their lives, what the fuck are you talking about you sound like a dumb asshole right now

Republicans play culture war games and people suffer, all in the name of political power.

I’m a Texan trans kid who almost died because of Ken Paxton. The world should know what he’s done. This was very difficult for me to write, but given what's at stake, I cannot bear to stay silent about what I went through at Paxton's hands. He must not be rewarded for what he's done to trans kids.

Please remember a truism about American politics: Most voters are fucking idiots. They will believe Trump will give them $5k for voting for Republicans because that's exactly what a fucking idiot would believe. I wouldn't be shocked if desperate GOP candidates run with this blatant bribe scam.

This sounded especially bizarre to me. So I looked it up. Duffy seems to have confused the EPA ending a credit for “engines that automatically turn off when vehicles come to a complete stop and restart when drivers take their feet off the brake pedal” with the START buttons that are now universal.

The terror spreading across the country this a.m. because in some more progressive corners of the US progressives won elections is telling. The reason the reaction is so over-large is because progressives unlike centrists and the right, are the only group who pose a real threat to established power.

Because of course he did. Trump is a folk hero to the dipshits of America because he is a living retribution against a world they deem unfair for not rewarding their laziness and willful mediocrity. They need an excuse for not succeeding in life, but in lieu of that, they'll accept mockery.

Gonna write this in sharpie on the hand of every dem elected. It doesn't even matter if they give you "good" advice, because voters hate nothing more than they hate a phony, and the second you take that advice vs. what you actually think, you're a phony.

In physics dark matter is stuff that should by all available evidence exist, but we can’t find. What are ‘dark matter’ discursive opinions? Views that a non-trivial number of people clearly have, but you very rarely/never see articulated or explicitly defended.
