Here's a direct link to House Dem's Judiciary Cmte report. The executive summary begins: "A growing body of evidence demonstrates that Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s." democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

Per a new report from House Democrats, Trump's DOJ is withholding evidence of his ties to Epstein and slow-walking the complete release of the Epstein files. It's time to end the cover-up and expose the truth. Remember this when you cast your ballot. www.ms.now/news/house-j...

I should post something on Insta about my schedule for #FAME (doubt highly that's a working hashtag here, but w/e) but then I'd need to find some snazzy background images, type my text into a separate app, edit in images of my book covers...and I'm just so tired. And this is why I hate Instagram.

We seem to like redemption arcs where bad people don't bother to acknowledge the bad things they did, let alone make restitution, but instead just say, "That was a long time ago, I want to be part of the group now," and we go, "Well get in here, ya big galoot" and give then a hug and forgive all.

The midterms will decide who is running election mechanics in 2028, the next presidential cycle. Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, and Ohio are just some of the states with open contests for secretary of state.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC - @electdemocrats.bsky.social) is running anti-trans ads now, so I don't know how you can say the party itself isn't embracing transphobia. There are still some good Dems out there, but transphobia is apparently a party value.

. . . . Okay, but how? How can any republican run on this? Against a democrat? They have had the power to do something about this and have chosen not to. (If an answer's in the article, I don't know, because it's behind a subscription wall.)

This won’t be reported widely, but Jason Arday has been cleared of plagiarism for a second time. Still nobody has been held accountable for this man’s death.

UCU Edinburgh@ucuedinburgh.bsky.social

A reminder: Jason Arday was innocent. "A fresh investigation by scientific publisher Taylor & Francis has concluded without substantiating plagiarism allegations against Jason Arday, the former Professor of Sociology of Education at the University of Cambridge."

Another thing about That Ad is that she says it’s hard for a mother to say this about her own daughter, which I mean, no it’s not? If you’re an awful mother who also hasn’t spoken to her in almost 5 decades then no, it’s very easy to say anything like that for you, about someone who is a stranger

As soon as I'm not focused on this deadline, I need to get to work getting my out-of-print or hard-to-get queer short fiction back where readers can find it. I keep going to queer literary events and pointing at my novelette like it's the only thing I've got, but in fact it is not.

Please, I say to the wrong audience entirely, when you go to writing conferences, do yourself a favor and google the accomplishments of the speakers and line them up against your own aspirations. Don't take advice on how to reach your goals from somebody who hasn't reached your goals.

Take any advice from me on how to effectively self-publish with a big grain of salt. Take any advice I have on publishing non-fiction with a big grain of salt. But I have pretty decent credentials when it comes to short fiction or middle grade novels or traditional publishing.

because it is relevant to my work, I have tried very hard to educate myself on how AI works, be fair and measured in how I evaluate it, and regularly test new tools to confirm or debunk my priors and tbh AI haters are just nailing it with less work like 99% of the time. keep at it folks

Friction is so important to creative work that people *add* friction to allow themselves to do it. Just one example: meter, in poetry. You create a framework that restricts you, that limits you, in order to give your thoughts a scaffold within which to build.

the idea phase is the easiest and least valuable part of professional creativity. read the first draft of the first Star Wars if you doubt me Great art is made in the grinding, often miserable collision between the ethereal substance of an idea and the mud and blood and friction of reality

Doing something I REALLY don't have time to be doing right now because I know that right now I remember this task, and if I don't do it right now I 1000% will forget all about it until it's late.

This is perhaps the most decadent cookie I've ever had. It collapses under its own decadence, to be entirely honest--the frosting makes the cereal go staleish. It will take me a while to finish this, because it's frankly overwhelming.
