Engineer, writer, inventor, (non-gun-oriented) prepper, cook. Seeker of lost humanity; if found *please* help revive it! A literal rocket scientist (aeronautical engineer.) Maker (mostly mechatronics), solopreneur, bootstrapper, proto-founder.

If you self-host and run PHP on it (which is very likely) you NEED to update it later today, ASAP. A major vulnerability that affects PHP versions since 5 has been found, which allows remote code execution (very bad). You MUST retweet and share with friends who self-host. THIS IS CRITICAL. ⚠️

This is not neutrality; this is favoring one group over another. Kaplan (and Zuckerberg, and Facebook) define "neutrality" as ensuring (at least!) equal outcomes for conservatives regardless of merit, because that's what the conservative movement does. It's grotesque for Platformer to play along.

This 👇 Surveillance is not just bad; it's unworkable. Every new phone is riddled with apps that add no (minus) value, whose primary purpose is to surveille you. An AI assistant in background with God-unknown privileges. A security nightmare. And my father must learn to navigate this shit in his 90s
These are the technopolitics of *surveillance*, not ads. There is nothing about advertising that demands surveillance. For centuries, advertising was not meaningfully linked to surveillance. The decision to fuse surveillance with advertising was just that - a *decision*, not an inevitability.

Matt Mason has a new post on his blog arguing that we still need niche robots rather than replace everything with humanoid robots. I couldn't agree more. mtmason.com/should-robot...

A Republican PAC spent nearly $25,000 running ads to help Sen. Susan Collins in Portland. Wrong Portland. They’re inept at everything. Portland, Oregon, that is. Not Portland, Maine. www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...

We released a trove of disclosure records that detail the finances of more than 1,600 Trump appointees, including former lobbyists, industry executives and at least a dozen officials who declined to identify former clients. Explore the database:

Basically, he didn’t like it that striving Jews in NY started exceeding the % at Harvard that he in his infinite wisdom deemed fit. My dad was admitted in 1936 under the quota system & faced open antisemitism. A beloved prof, Ben Schwartz, endured yrs of ”genteel“ antisemitism in the history dept.
