The answer to: “Who was President in October 2008?” is unknowable for approximately the same reason as the answer to the question: “Who was President in March 2020?”

I’ll share it, because I think this rampant anti-Muslim and anti-Arab bigotry is not only accepted by a dying wing of our party but being used to win primaries (see Abdul). It’s on us to see it, shun it, and protect our coalition.

What Rachel Bitecofer is doing to Georgia Rep. Ruwa Romman on X is Islamophobic, racist, and disgusting. I will not share it here to spare your day, but no serious candidate should retain her services moving forward

Look, Will’s description is taken out of context (indeed, it alters the punctuation to include a period, rather than a comma) the Medium post in black-and-white continues “…where all citizens are equal under the rule of law…” This is clear cut liberal universalism.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

Kiros’s political career was launched by her 2023 Medium post where she endorsed replacing Israel with a single state, “under the historic Palestine.” This is not a forbidden position or anything, but it is radical, and explicitly envisions the (in her view, peaceful) destruction of modern Israel.

Without prejudice to how Kiros’s views have continued to develop (in-fact knowing her personally, I know they surely have), you can only judge the position in the medium article as radical by anchoring yourself to the status quo as somehow innately un-radical.

We are today 250 years on from the Declaration, which declared the self-evident truth that All were created equal. The real radicalism in this moment is thus those who assert that some races or religions are superior to others; seeking to return the World to a time grounded in violence and hatred.

Like we just got to seize this stuff when we’re back in power—it doesn’t belong to him, it belongs to Us

All told, 321 diamonds, 56 sapphires, 13 emeralds and six rubies encrust the watch-sized gold ring presented this week to Bill White, the U.S. ambassador to Belgium, to give to U.S. President Donald Trump. https://to.pbs.org/44batiO

We must, then, avoid the ‘Babel syndrome,’ namely the idolatry of profit that sacrifices the weak, a uniformity that neutralizes differences, and the pretense that a single language — even a digital one — can translate everything, including the mystery of the person, into data and performance.“

As I have said, the next dem admin should treat things of this nature, similar to the weird board of peace thing, as accruing (if to anyone) the Office of the President/ the Treasury.

Silly goose, the only one allowed to fleece Trump supporters is the Trump family itself

If this tweet just said "landlords" instead of "developers" it would make perfect sense, but for some reason a whole lot of leftists see productive capitalists rather than rentier parasites as the leading villain of the housing crisis for some reason.

Not the worst part of this, but really just such a sick, depraved man to attempt to pit brother against brother.

Trump skips church & attacks Pope. American Catholics being pushed to pick a side. But that's dumb fight to pick since Leo & Church more popular than Trump.

Hot Ones is teasing their “biggest” episode yet. Who do you think it is?

Literally have never once in my entire life looked at anything happening—good or bad—and said “I need to know the technical status of this persons visa before I form an opinion” Incomprehensible to me how anyone cares so much they will justify sending Nazi goons to beat and kidnap people

Add this to the “first” orders of business in the after time: Seize whatever US nexus assets exist for this and close it up. The person of the Presidency is incapable of receiving any emolument from any foreign state. Anything paid to this fake org should inure to the benefit of the Am. People.

hardly important, but Trump's "Board of Peace" charter (assuming this really is the complete text) repeatedly mixes up whether an "article" is superior or inferior to a "chapter" Eg, Articles 1 and 7 sit above Chapters 1 and 7, but Chapters 2, 3, and 4 sit above their respective "articles"

Indeed, wide swaths of American society have resisted and defeated various incarnations of the Slave Power. The Confederacy was crushed, Jim Crow abolished, MAGA is next Heirs of those movements ought have no claim to “America,” but certainly we should not concede they have a *better* claim to it.

Sorry but anyone who tries to tell you (leftistly) that Calhoun is a more authentic exemplar of the American political tradition than Frederick Douglass is a wrecker.
