Young ‘uns: this stuff happened once a week during Obama’s presidency. Dijon mustard. Moving a bust of Churchill. Inviting a rapper to the White House. Putting his feet up on his desk. They’d scream and cry for days about how effete and snobby and Black he was and how misinderstood they were.

It’s just so appalling and enraging how casual and commonplace this has become. I’m out of words.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

What's grimly funny about this is that's about the most generic imaginable description of a 10-year old girl.

“protein enriched chocolate chip cookie” is kinda the perfect synthesis of the conflicting american male desires to be a spartan warrior and also five years old

Pretty tired of this guy and his schtick frankly.

If I had to distill the most important sociocultural fronts being challenged by the US far-right today, they would boil down to the following three. I'm listing them from broad to narrow in terms of their issue sets, but I think they're all equally important and mutually entangled.

I started enjoying "Nobody Wants This" more when I just accepted that the characters are supposed to be at least ten years younger than the actors who play them.

I remember people on twitter dot com who found it genuinely shocking that I just don't really value debate as an activity, like in so admitting this I was basically saying I am an authoritarian tyrant. I found this odd! For reasons Alex is saying here - good and worthwhile debate is difficult!

Alex Says Stuff@alexsaysstuff.bsky.social

The fetishisation of "debate" as some sort of grand public good that everyone should do is so thoughtless and jarring to me because the more you actually do it the more it becomes apparent that genuinely constructive debate is actually a pretty niche thing.

I have to admit "Will the founding fathers be disappointed to me in the afterlife" is a thought that literally never occurred to me.

I might actually enjoy a 007 movie where Jack Lowden plays him as a guy who's constantly screwing up and getting his ass kicked.

Anyone who talks about the "violent God of the Old Testament" should consider how the violence in Revelation outstrips anything in the OT by several orders of magnitude.

I think it's beautiful that Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd are making little bunnies together

Neil Bush, brother of George W. Bush and son of George H.W. Bush, has posted a political message on Facebook for the first time, saying he voted for James Talarico for US Senate over Ken Paxton. Bush says he isn't just opposing Paxton, he has come to admire Talarico.

How can you say something that implies "Islamo-Communism" (whatever that is!) is a live threat to *Texas* and expect to be taken remotely seriously?
