Yes, there are shitty, hard things about transition. Yes, there are a lot of assholes, some of whom are in positions of power. But this is the easiest thing I've ever done, and most people are pretty cool about it.
Obviously transphobia is real and sucks. I’m not denying that, so put down your pitchforks. But I worry the apocalyptic panic we indulge in here scares off the eggs and kids and so forth. We want to make it easier, not harder to be trans.
this week's post dissects why naive optimism and fatalistic pessimism are not fundamentally less embarrassing responses to climate change than outright denial and then offers examples of actions we can take

‘The Matrix’ creator Lilly Wachowski on J.K. Rowling and the new ‘Harry Potter’ series:
“She is funding trans genocide. J.K. Rowling funds trans genocide, full stop. So, if you support ‘Harry Potter,’ you’re supporting trans genocide.”

Really loving @margaret.bsky.social's ALPR/Flock episodes - both for the information on the devices, their history, and surveillance and also for the transferable take aways to how we are working for the world we want to see. I keep taking notes!

I was prepping a public comment to be presented in front of Amazon/data center developers invading my community and had the phrase, "Ostensibly, we live in a democracy," already written when Margaret used it in an episode and I was like, "Yeah. I am right on track!"
the frame of Health Fascism moves away from individual MAHA behaviors and towards how our health care and social welfare systems, such as they are/aren't, were fertile ground for a far right power grab. @deathpanel.bsky.social has been exploring this for a long time. the full panel chuds clipped:
This era unfolding as I graduated high school and went to college is what helped radicalize my politics. I can see it starting in how I reflected on it all in journals as high school ended and I went to college.
There are already articles circulating trying to rewrite history and say America was great after 9/11 and united and thoughtful and just a reminder that that period was marked by intense and insanely racist hatred, paranoia, and a frothing desire for unhinged violence and oppression.
400 library workers begin their strike Monday after endless months of trying to negotiate with management. Already the anti-union propaganda machine is calling the library workers entitled.
The LIBRARY workers.

Our top story: These 11 months of Robinson Gonzalez’s life are a microcosm of the immigrant experience—of resilience in the face of a contradictory system that welcomes your labor but not your full presence. www.texasobserver.org/american-ska...
people could respond to this framing around reporting deaths—"had significant underlying health conditions"—with more confidence if we weren't also living through a pandemic in which we have been told only people who have "underlying health issues" are "vulnerable" or "at risk"

BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) - Homeland Security secretary said man killed by ICE in Maine was not the target of warrant, Maine Sen. Angus King says.
Dana Bash: What would you have wanted Israel to do when a bunch of civilians -- these were peacenicks -- were murdered brutally on October 7?
Lander: I wouldn't have killed 5000 Palestinians under the age of 5.
Bash: Israel says they tried hard to avoid this -- I'm just playing devil's advocate.
I wrote a newsletter that about doing the things the person you want to be would do; I share some of what I have been working on, including supporting Grace Pinson fundraising for her release from federal prison and about my data center organizing. buttondown.com/howdowelivet...
While everyone's "all the love to trans folks" posts are nice and it is good to see support
We have been getting them for a decade now. If you want to support trans folks, hire us. Support GFMs and asks for mutual aid. Put yourself between trans folks in public if you see harassment.
“and so it’s almost like a confession – as though the words on the pamphlet are: 'We worship the devil, signed, antifa’.” @reproutopia.bsky.social quoted in @lexmcmenamin.com's incredible new story
Judge O’Connor stated from the bench that he is giving maximum sentences to the Prairieland sentences because “the state wants to send a message to anyone who shares a similar ideology.”
Federal sentencing has started.
Zachary Evetts was just sentenced to 50 years by Chief District Judge Reed O'Connor.
Maricela Rueda was just sentenced to 840 months / 70 years by Judge Mark Pittman.
Support the Prairieland Defendants at their SENTENCING!

This makes me so sad as my oldest looks toward college next year. But also helps me think about some of what I might want to talk with them about to support them as they face this.
At the end of the term I asked my college creative wriing students to submit anonymous thoughts on AI. No real surprises: Mood ranges from resignation to despair, capitulation from embittered erosion of standards to total, feelings of betrayal from deep to furious. 1/
My friend Grace Pinson is a trans woman and jailhouse lawyer leaving federal prison next month after 23 years and needs funds to support her re-entry. She's a badass, but of course she shouldn't need to be to warrant support. Donate and share! @deanspade.bsky.socialbit.ly/welcomehomegrace

Donate to Grace Pinson's support fund today. Incarcerated trans people are under such intense conditions - especially in federal prison. Grace has done so much for trans folks!
I am asking folks to donate to support my friend Grace Pinson, a badass jailhouse attorney and trans woman in federal prison. She is leaving in July after 23 years and needs support! You can donate here: www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/...
It's Trans Day of Visibility today. If you're trans and are raising money for something (I don't care what it is), reply to this thread and I will boost you.
If you are a cis person, take a look and find someone to support if you can.
Everyone give this a share after.
Handed out flyers about upcoming ways folks can get more involved with stopping a data center and also rapid response in my small college town today for 2 hours. It was great!
I’ve added a new $1 paid tier for my newsletter on both Patreon and Ghost. The newsletter remains free on either platform, but with more than 10,000 subscribers and only a tiny fraction of paid supporters, a wave of $1 subscriptions would go a long way toward supporting this work.
"Gender non-conforming children continue to get the strong impression… that they’d be better off being something other than what they are.”
Like: yes! True. It's impressed upon them over & over again they should better conform to their gender assigned at birth. With social consequences!
Where? How? These people have been pooping this stupid myth back and forth for so long that they don't even bother to provide basic evidence anymore.
It's the *premise* of the article, how did an editor not ask for specific numbers and peer-reviewed studies on this alleged phenomenon?
I wrote another newsletter. I am continuing to experiment with how speaking to others about how I am attempting to live now may build more relationships and opportunities with people to respond together. To build solidarity and to survive.
