2012: Die-in to protest Ford's removal of bike lanes in the heart of downtown Toronto 2026: Die-in to protest Ford's removal of bike lanes in the outer suburbs of Etobicoke
So different than 2012 when Jarvis was removed. Handful of people on street during removals (including @fuzzywuzzyto.bsky.social who layer in front of the remover). Far bigger & diverse cycling community now. Fucking w a different beast now.

Here is my breakdown of the statements that the jury decided against. Jurors found 26 of 29 statements on the jury form were deceptive, and willfully so. And it found five of the company's trade practices unconscionable and willful.

We can take note of this in Canada too. Canada has a right to defend itself against foreign oppression, interference, and economic coercion. But we need to be careful not to confuse defending Canadian sovereignty w/ defending the interests of Canadian capital. The two are not inherently the same.
Neoliberals supercharge inequality, distorting influence, and so end up as hypocrites. They talk about competition but create private monopolies, they talk about deregulation but ultimately start to regulate the non-rich to keep them down. In the end, as you say, perfect grounds for fascism to grow.

Today, charges against DULF's founders were tossed out by a BC Supreme Court decision Yesterday, we covered how docs in trial evidence show Vancouver police pushed to bring those charges — even when a Crown prosecutor questioned whether it was in the public interest
A Vancouver cop told DULF’s founders he would personally advocate for them. 2 years later, he approved the investigation that led to raids on their homes. www.defactomedia.ca/how-vancouve...

He just said that Indigenous knowledge will help the government to ensure that the ocean waters “remain safe, sustainable and healthy for future generations and for all the life that lives in them.” WHAT ABOUT THE SOUTHERN RESIDENT ORCAS YOU’RE GETTING POWERS TO DRIVE TO EXTINCTION MARK? MARK???
Ragebaiting myself by watching Carney announce “ocean protections” while he’s massively escalating tanker traffic for oil and gas exports

It's not flooding the zone, it's seizing a crisis in order to ram through a slew of rapid fire changes that are a gift to multinational corporations and are the opposite of what we ran on. What do you call that again?
A reporter asked the government about the Trumpian tactic of flooding the zone with this bill (it’s an omnibus!) and the ministers appear outraged. They balk at a question that…accurately characterizes what they’re doing. If you don’t like it, don’t do it!

The difference between having Carney as PM and having Pierre as PM is that the majority would more easily recognize how detrimental these policies are if Pierre were PM Because hed be enforcing the exact same policies
Carney is not doing these things to 'defend Canada' or as part of some difficult trade off. The actions he it taking weaken Canada, both right now: bsky.app/profile/sust... And in terms of the future of our democracy. He is helping the same people Trump is helping: breachmedia.ca/carneys-inve...

For everyone who keeps saying Avi Lewis needs a seat in the House: because of the size of the party right now, the NDP got ONE question in this whole QP and it was the very last one, like thirty minutes into the session. And Carney didn't even answer it, despite taking the questions off the top.
Blanchet points out Carney cancelled the digital services tax on tech giants to placate Trump and it didn't work -- so will he now reimpose this tax? Carney says we don't need taxes that impact affordability for Canadians (??) Thank god the Bloc is here (lol help) to ask some actual questions!!

"Why should my tax dollars go to giving houses to people who can't afford them?" Why should MY tax dollars should go to satisfying your desire to see desperate people living desperate lives? I'd rather save money and solve the problem, rather than spend money to exacerbate it.

Carney is now set to trample on rights, destroy ecosystems, and devastate the fight against climate change for his projects. So I guess it’s important that he rewrite history in this way, lest he see his own reflection in elements of history that we’ve rightfully condemned!
