I love this!

Orkney Library & Archive@orkneylibrary.bsky.social

It's nearly the end of October, the clocks have gone back, and once again we are moving steadily into the darker months. 🌙 If you need a little more light in your life then don't forget that Orkney Library & Archive have a collection of loanable WINTERING WELL KITS! 💡

My lovely neighbour has not only picked up our bins (again), he’s tied them together in a square to stop them blowing over again, but so they can still be opened to put rubbish/recycling in.

I’ve never used Grindr but for those of you who do: important safety tip here.

Ronan Farrow@ronanfarrow.bsky.social

Grindr is training its AI on your photos, your age, and your taps by default, without asking. This video shows where the app buried the off switch. The stakes are high on an app like Grindr. Numerous countries criminalize same-sex relations, so being outed through your data can be dangerous.

Me messaging my aunt yesterday: I’m coming down with a cold, so I’m going to have a quiet weekend to try to fight it off. Me to myself this morning between coughing: But what if I cleaned and tidied the house from top to bottom. 🤦‍♀️

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you’re under absolutely no obligation to justify yourself to anyone if you choose to spend the entire weekend reading a good book, making multiple cups of tea, and indulging in a scandalous amount of cinnamon rolls.

This whole thread about ME/CFS!

Laura J Mixon@laurajmg.bsky.social

I'm a big believer in finding moments of joy in the now, and I have a lot to be thankful for. But ME/CFS is such a devastating disorder—not just for us sufferers, but also for our caregivers. And without more funding to find biomarkers, official treatments and a cure, our lives are pretty grim.
