Good code is like poetry in that you refine it from verbose and rough to precise and bespoke. Grasping code is like reading poetry, with you entering a flow state as the pieces click into place. Read more poetry i beg u all

Programming is art. Don't let any AI chud tell you otherwise.

"10 of my agents are turning the wheel of dharma right now, working on my spiritual enlightenment for me"

Tech bros are going to announce that they can vibe code love, intention and the human experience by 2027. "I have 30 agents experiencing the profound right now, they're experiencing awe. Get with the times"

I agree that the execution matters more, but you say there's nothing to fear, followed by the idea of omitting content. If the fear is unfounded, omitting content is not needed, and that reaction concedes that this is a problem.

Given that the person who had their game "replicated" is also an AI slopper, is lying about that, and the "replica" was on Steam before their game was: I feel ok using this as a jumping off point for discussing why I don't think this is anywhere near as much of an issue as people are worried about

Some ideas: - rely on your community, ask them for support - flag early, both internally and to marketplace owners - iterate on the idea and show you can come up with more and better - show your face, the other party won't (or can't more than one game) - bundle up with others as social proof

Finally, I empathize with everyone who's going through this, has gone through this, or is afraid of going through this. It's hard in this business and most of us just want something for ourselves, and to get by in the meantime. We don't dream of wealth, and there are risks all around. Lots of love 💕

The bigger problem is how to solve this. You can't hold copycats socially accountable because they're typically faceless, and the initial sale is all they want. Some kind of mediator should step in, but it's never been easy to determine originality; sometimes worlds collide on accident.

Ai slop makes this problem worse, because that's all ai is good for: quickly outputting stuff. This is a problem everywhere: code issue reports flooded with nonsense, math papers with millions of lines of LEAN code, ai slop content on socials, ... So aggressive counter-measures will also do harm

The issue with the idea getting copied so quickly, despite poor execution, is that the idea drives marketing and sales. Novel ideas get a lot of attention, so if yours gets copied, the wind gets taken out of your sails. Copycatting works, has worked for decades, and the speed now is alarming.

It's like your grandma buying you the wrong game: the scammer already made their sale, so they can move on. The copied game is nowhere near as good, but now that association is tied to your game, because the idea, visuals, and even name are copied wholesale.

Instead of using their AI app nobody asked for or wants, use Mobi to make a mobile webpage or link in bio that’s by creator for creators and has absolutely no AI (Plus our mascot is cute and we use proceeds for cleaner oceans) 🐳

This post is unavailable.

Was driving and it was dark out, pulled up to a stoplight with a car already there. I got close enough that my headlights illuminated the top revealing a little skeleton sitting on the car antenna. Light turned green, we rode for a spell; the car turned on the nearest road. Ride on, little skeleton.

Posts like these betray a real lack of skill to me, every time. Ai output in coding is very useless. If it outperforms you on speed, that's frankly a skill issue. On anything non-trivial, ai is completely out of its depth, and on anything trivial, you just don't need it

I think it’s important for anyone who (completely understandably) checked out on AI the second the crypto/nft/metaverse/snake oil chuds started pushing it to realize that, in at least the domain of software development, we are very much living in a scenario where the snake oil actually works

One time somewhat recently I was too early for work so I entered a random donut store to get a random donut, but the cashier refused to take my order, told me to use the kiosk, despite the whole place being empty, so I just left without any donuts

yesterday i had some ice cream, and you have to order on a ipad, navigating a shitty UI, than it gives you a ticket, you give the ticket to the person, eliminating the need to communicate with another human person, just to get one scoop of chocolate in a cup, it's a wonderful system /s

When a game studio ships a solid game, it creates TWO valuable products: 1. A solid game. 2. The team that spent years learning how to work together make a game. Because Western studios keep disbanding #2 while development cycles get longer; we will inevitably see less of #1.

Just one more project it'll fix everything My project didn't fix anything, but this next one-

This delusion brought to you by the idea that llms actually work. I've seen ai code in context firsthand. It's terrible. If you don't see that, you are a subpar software developer. It's just that simple. And the arrogance is the cherry on top of the dunning kruger sundae. Ofc ur arrogant, u suck

P(aul) Frazee@pfrazee.com

People who aren’t using AI to code at this point are delusional or lying, trying to ride a horse down the highway and backing up the traffic instead of asking “what can we do to make cars safer and electric.” They have no ethical high ground
