finally wrote the thing. there's been a lot of doom on here lately--a lot of confusion as to why we haven't simply kicked the bums out. that's not going to happen tomorrow. but it will happen eventually. this is how: www.liberalcurrents.com/roadmap-to-a...

"republicans are obsessed with your kids genitals and these patriots who fight in our military and just lead ordinary lives like yours just want to shit in peace" - easiest dem messaging on trans rights
here is the thing, if you are thinking pragmatically, the response to trans health bans is to change the subject! “these people are targeting children so they can con you into stealing your social security and health care.” easy peasy! need a specific answer: “keep the government out of my family.”

to take just one example: the current anti-trans mania is an almost entirely elite-driven moral panic. terfs and republicans didn't ask an opinion poll if people were scared of trans. they drove the narrative themselves, and now here we are. we must learn to do the same.

As a cishet dude, when I see a Dem ditch trans rights, it sends a message: you ain't got no fight in you, no principles, just another empty suit. Think I'm some too-online outlier? Go ask your expensive consultants why people don't bother to vote. It's because they know you're all empty suits.
This is basically the attitude of democrats up and down the ticket and it’s pathetic and unamerican

In the words of my man Thomas Paine, you know why they call it nobility — no-ability.

The antidote to doomerism isn’t blind optimism, it’s a strident, rebellious, unflinching belief that we are right, we are righteous, and we will win. Listen to @dansinker.com dansinker.com/posts/2025-0...

Hitler said the Third Reich would last 1000 years. It lasted 12 and he died cowering in a bunker. Fascism always fails.
In light of everything happening, I wrote about how the KKK in the 1920s felt unstoppable, about the people that fought against them anyway, and about how fascism always fails. dansinker.com/posts/202…

Same “past is sunk” holds true for MAGA types who come to reject Trumpism/Muskism. Would it have been nice if they reached that point before? Yes Does complaining abt that/mocking them change anything? No Only thing it does is alienate allies: it puts political aesthetics over political power.

What separates a good "subversion/deconstruction" from a bad one in my personal experience and opinion is that most good "subversions/deconstructions" come from a place of love. In the parts that are played straight, they're genuinely just a good example of the genre or type of fiction.

If you’re wondering why I declined to talk to the NYTimes, then you haven’t been following my account for very long. They bear a direct responsibility for the current situation we find ourselves in, and I responded by laying out my position and that I would only talk to @jamellebouie.net

[kind of screaming] WE NEED TO ANSWER HATE WITH HOPE
Nobody wants to serve. Nobody expects better. Everyone just aspires to being the boss of their own gang. In times of civic decay, we need civic spirit and faith in higher ideals more than ever, not less. The answer will not come from punk community action.
