So much to say about Brazil, not least of which is the role that Erika Hilton, a Black trans leader and most voted woman politician in Brazil, played in mobilizing folks for Lula. She was behind the critical, concrete, economic promise of shorter work-week. theprint.in/feature/erik...

theprint.inWho is Erika Hilton? Black trans politician was one of Lula’s loudest campaignersErika Hilton’s electoral triumph comes amid a hostile environment. Brazil has the highest number of reported murders of transgender people in the world, with 80 recorded in 2025.

Trump tentou tudo para tirar essa vitória da gente. Interferiu, financiou o oponente, tarifou nossos produtos. Hoje, vejo gente do mundo todo celebrando nossa vitória. Várias línguas chorando em uníssono. Mal sabe Trump que o produto que a gente maie exporta é esperança. Brasil é berço do futuro.

Here's Lula celebrating tonight with Erika Hilton, a transgender politician who led the drive to end the six-day work week in Brazil. Erika showed workers solidarity, they showed her solidarity back. Solidarity is how fascism loses.

To be honest, in these past two weeks, I've never seen this much organized movement from the left here in Brazil. People were being more active online, irl, and also trying to speak with the undecided voters. It was so beautiful to see it unfold and I'm so happy we actually did it!

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

We are watching a coup d’état attempt unfold in real time in Brazil. I’m consumed by desperation.
