bluesky is using AI, fourthwall is using AI, patreon is using AI, twitch is using AI, my tiny german internet host in the middle of nowhere is using AI - unfortunately everything tech related will be touched by this shit somehow. all you can do is disable it best you can and tell them it sucks
Like many women, @maddie-b-a.bsky.social loved playing browser-based โgirl gamesโ growing up.
After discovering the enshittification of this once-beloved genre, she's started to question how their downfall is letting down a whole generation of young girls who still need good, accessible games.
Constantly seeing posts of people asking in what order should I watch these movies? what order should I play these games? Like... Release order. Literally always release order. Doesn't matter what the timeline is. I honestly can't think of a single situation where you wouldn't do release order.
Jet Force Gemini was one of those games I always wanted to play as a kid but didn't know how to get my hands on it. No idea what kind of game it was. Just looked cool
Hadn't updated my top favorite games since 2023, there's been some new additions since! I went with only one game per franchise as a rule, makes things a bit easier lol What's yours?
One thing they donโt tell you about being a working artist is that every once in a while a picture is simply Haunted and, for reasons beyond the reach of man, simple things you have done a thousand times will be Very Hard and Look Bad and you will lose ten years of skill for the duration of that job
I actually LOVE the idea of making a Zelda with this marionette inspired artstyle (in fact I loved the artstyle of the Nintendoland Zelda stages that was a bit along those lines) and I think it would have been great IF it was for a brand new entry in the series, but Ocarina of Time isn't that. /
in the main cast, NPCs, environment, menus, etc. Ocarina of Time already HAD an art style, so I actually think it's a shame that this new one won't get a chance to exist on its own, it's simply being splashed on top of our memories of the original game, which does it a disservice in my opinion.
The greatest games with memorable art directions are great because they were built from the ground up with that art direction in mind, so I'm really not a fan of just coming up with a brand new art style and applying it to remakes, but that's something a lot of them seem to struggle with.

In the remake, this inspiration only seems to have been applied to the main characters, while all the NPCs have retained their style and proportions from the original game, just upscaled. If you're gonna commit to an art direction, I think it should be consistent throughout the game...
This Gamescom demonstrated more than ever that the gaming industry is suffering from an increasingly severe lack of creativity. Soulslike after Soulslike after Soulslike, the latest gacha, the latest samurai action game, the latest military shooter. This problem is only gonna get worse with AI .../
Studios are now fully embracing tools whose entire purpose is to recycle existing ideas. AI cannot create, only imitate. It cannot innovate, only regurgitate. If you thought everything had been looking the same in recent years, it's only gonna get worse. Vote with your wallets and say no to slop.
well congrats everyone, after the success (15k reviews!) and positive media coverage that AI-generated-art library-sorting game on steam got, there's now a rapid wave of AI-disclosure sorting games releasing on steam
"society if ceo's got a 99% pay cut instead of sacking thousands of staff every month"
in case you think that's too much, many would still be millionaires even after that
workers take home pennies & struggle to make rent when bigger ceo's get 100M+ this is not sustainable
Right now the world is full of people who want to code and write and paint and film stuff and people who want to play and read and look at and watch stuff and nobody is allowed to do any of that because some unrelated third guy isn't making enough money off the deal
Our games industry is people. Our studios are people. Our teams people, our games by people for people. Our games are made by people, in groups of people, in teams of people, making people things for people.
The magic is people, and the people deserve so much better than all this. I am so sorry.
I don't have any patience for the "but we're poor" argument for bands using AI for posters and publicity. Try to think back to roughly 3 years ago when you somehow coped without it.
is there a forced gay agenda in your entertainment media or is it just that the gay kids you bullied in school for being gay and artsy inevitably ended up working in the arts with a bunch of other queer people, women, and progressives while you got a job as a deep sea fisherman, terry?
itโs super tacky when folks are trying to excuse their studioโs use of AI by claiming it is โonly JUST used for things like localizationโ ๐ค
localization is an art, iโve seen how terrible it can be when a studio just plugs the gameโs dialogue into something as simple as Google Translate.
4 years ago we set up our studio @bloomandgloom.bsky.social. Now we are 10 people, and announce our first game Into the Wind!
Check it out (and wishlist if you want to) on Steam here: store.steampowered.com/app/2843060#indiegame#gamedev#intothewindgame#indiedev
It makes me so embarrassed when the damn Youtube AI suggests a reply to a comment that actually sounds like something I'd say. What do you mean I'm that predictable?? Wish I could turn that damn thing off
This new Bluesky label leaves users who only want to see SFW posts from someone who may post tagged content on occasion with no way to see their posts other than seeing all their posts including labeled content
To put it simply, users hit with this content warning are NERF'd. It's all or nothing
